Yes, I think that's the type of thing that happens when a young sweet roo without a flock suddenly becomes the ruler of one. It was shortly after I put him in with the girls that he tried. So probably about 3 weeks ago. Now whenever I go in the run all he does is keep an eye on me. I won't let the kids around him by themselves because I don't trust him but if me or the wife are around then all he does now is give us the side eye and makes sure we aren't harassing the girls. So besides his one minor infraction he's been pretty good overall. This made me smile. Not that I'm happy that he's being obnoxious, just that he gets to live on a little bit longer. I absolutely loved that boy but I know that mean roos can't be tolerated. Maybe he'll calm down with age (if he loves long enough) or maybe the testosterone will die down eventually. Who knows. I guess that's what happens once a roo without a flock suddenly becomes the ruler of one.
How long did it take before he made a move on you? Rosco was always my special boy but never did more than the threatening eyeball once or twice. He's an amazing, sweet boy that loves to be held and cuddled when he's alone, without the flock.
I have some new "affectionate" boys growing out now. My son's young RIR boy is always flowing me around. Today, u thought he was being mean when he bit my arm BUT he then jumped on my hand and tried to mate it lol. His saddle feathers haven't even grown in yet! There's a typing lavender ameraucana that I'm almost positive is a roo that's happy to come greet me and fly up on my shoulder and a few CCL boys that are getting rather friendly.
