You don't need to post 4 times. Where are you located? If you're not looking for specific breeds check Craigslist's farm and garden section. Then go into the for sale sections of the forums on here.

Anyone have clues as to why DIS occurs? This batch has been a complete mess. Of the 12 silkie eggs I bought, nine - yes NINE - were clear. Not happy. Three days ago all the chicks were moving, they were in lockdown. Today is Day 21 and nothing - not a pip or a squeak.

I've just very quickly grabbed each egg and checked for internal pipping - nothing. And, worryingly, there's no movement in any of them either.

I'm hatching upright in egg cartons - something I've always done and never had an issue with. I've very carefully monitored air cell development this time too, and i'm pretty much where the pictures say I should be. I have a bad feeling about this.....

1st about clears....

Always investigate just in case especially if they shipped and before you tell a shipper they sent you infertile eggs, shipping can mess up eggs big time and give you clears!

Clears at CANDLE are not always infertile!

It goes away after 2 weeks.

What?!  So if I edit a post because of an atrocious spelling error, or incorrect information, it comes back to the original after 2 weeks?!
It was Marsha, my white EE. it's a GORGEOUS slate color!!!! I have teal and blue and aqua so I'm very happy for a slate blue!! Such a neat color I'll take a photo when I get a chance!

[CONTENTEMBED=/t/1046313/incubating-w-friends-come-hatch-learn-chat-meet-new-friends/1780#post_16099548 layout=inline]JEALOUS!!!  I keep hoping for a grey egg layer.  Hopefully someone with some time and land on their hands can start a grey egg breeding project!  I can only hope, as I would buy some for sure![/CONTENTEMBED]

Hello! I'm new to this thread. My friend Cynthia suggested that I join in the fun.

My daughter got an incubator in June for her birthday and we've been been hatching non stop since then! Let's see... We're done barnyard mixes, Marans, Silikes, showgirls, Ameraucanas, cream Legbars, seramas... We just hatched our first seramas from a friends eggs at the beginning of last week. I think we set 12 and had 4 hatch. Here they are:

Yesterday we set 7 silkie eggs from another friend. Can't wait!

welcome!!!! Cynthia is a lovey!!! she is an awesome help to everyone in all areas and such a great shoulder! how old is your daughter? my daughter will soon be 11 she also loves chickens she has raises her serama in the serama saloon she wanted for them and also loves incubation and raising her serama!

Don't get me started! Lol!

We hatched out some mutts this spring with our Cuckoo Marans roo over Silver Laced Wyandottes, Delawares, Blue Andalusians and Black Australorps, also some pure Silver Spangled Hamburgs in a different flock. Absolutely love my broody girls, I've never been successful at hatching via incubator. I only tried it once in a borrowed styro type incubator. It didn't work. I have lots to learn.

I'd love to add some other breeds to my main flock, we also have Dark Cornish and Brown Leghorns.

I'd really like to have some BO's, Dominiques and maybe some Barnvelders. There are so many breeds I'd like to have... Lol!

We have 46 chickens right now, I've capped the number at 100 (for now), so we have lots of room to grow!
well where better to learn eh?
