Is this your first hatch? 13 healthy ones your first time around in a styrofoam incubator is much better than I did. I only hatched 7 out of 20, and had to cull four of them within the first few days. You did very good for your first attempt, you will keep learning and doing better as you go, and you have 13 healthy babies to reward you for your work :thumbsup

Well, went 44 out of 50 out of my mixed pen. All chicks healthy and getting around good. Pulled them out of the hatcher at 6am this morning and moved to the brooder. Out of the 6 that didn't hatch, 5 quit early and blood ringed and 1 quit after lockdown. All the parents in the mixed pen are pure bred and all hatched off my breeders. There are splash orp's, black orp's, buff orp's, light Brahma's, and barred rocks. They are covered by barred rock and blue orp Roos. This is the pen we sell eating eggs from most of the time.
awesome fire! I wish you were closer so I could get my snoopin mother out of my coops!!!!

Any chance it is related to the pox?
No. The Pox cleared up about 2 weeks ago. She is super skinny too! I wonder if the polish were keeping her from the food. I mean she is eating great and drinking great. I just dont know what it could be.
Could that be an egg you're feeling, before it hardens? Not sure where it hardens prior to being laid.
I dont think so. The mass is closer to her vent. So the egg should be hard by then.

CH, those are great looking babies. I'm sorry about the four, but the rest look great!

Since you now know the risk of your incubator, please be sure to lay paper towel or a rag on the floor when you stop turning to avoid that issue again.

Well one of the four died so my mom said give me the other three and we will help them we are putting a bandaid to help there legs and triple antibiotic ointment om the bad spots the first one is drinking

That is great to hear! Keep working on the drinking. They may not really want to eat until tomorrow. Let them do a little healing, they heal really fast, then they will need some exercise. Do the bad legs look any straighter?
