CH, if you want to join the New Year's HAL, this is what I suggest. The eggs that the hen is sitting on, or sometimes sitting on, should be thrown away. They are probably not any good by now. After you get rid of those eggs, pick up any eggs she lays AFTER Friday, and put them in a cool place that is 50F - 60F. The eggs will stay fresh if they are kept between those temperatures. On December 11, put all the eggs you have collected into the incubator. If you do it this way, you should have chicks hatching on New Year's Day.
ok,here is the deal I took the unbroken eggs rinsed them and candles and there where baby's so I set up the bator and put them in it.now the Jen is back on the nest and setting on just ping pong balls.she is driving me bonkers

Maybe you can give the hen a few days with the ping pong balls and keep the eggs in the incubator for now and if she sets tight for a couple days, gradually replace balls with the eggs. Just a couple at a time. Did you get any new pictures of your set up for us?

How many had babies? These chicks may not survive to hatch and if they do they may have deformities from the fluctuating temps so be prepared. I would still start collecting the eggs laid by your hens and set them in a cool place for storage in case the broodies eggs don't make it until the 11th.

Can you do that @chicken hawk 33 ? Are you still getting an egg a day from that hen? Is there a rooster with her? I don't remember...Bantams, right? Those are the eggs you should use for the HAL. Please don't try shipped eggs. They are difficult and will make you crazy....
