I'm on my first hatch with chicken eggs and I read through all of the notes at the beginning of this thread and took my own notes... But the best help was having a gal named Aart that talked me through each candle and told me to keep each one so I can get the experience of each progresses and fails throughout the hatching experience. Then when it's all done she is going to talk me through an eggtopsie for those that don't hatch. I have two chicken gurus on here that are extremely helpful. Aart and attimus. Attimus more for building... Aart for the other stuff.

I couldn't see much as far as the air sac goes, but I did see veins on most of the eggs. I think I'll wait a week or so, and try again. I wish these eggs weren't so caked on with this mud, it's like cement.

The chick directly in the center with the dark stripes is the legbar.  The other (on left) is one of Sally's project blue eggers

EDIT:  the chick who's head you can see directly behind hers is the other one. lol

I am so jealous!!!!! I can only hatch cockerels when it comes to CCL. So far the 3 in lockdown have done nothing and one of the project eggs has done nothing. My 3 personal flock eggs hatched and the last one pipped. And 3/4 Project eggs hatched. No CLB yet.
My personal flock eggs. Look at that fluffy face!!!! These should lay a nice bright green to blue egg!!!

And can anyone tell me what this is?? I had to help a dried out chick. Membrane was glued to its wing it could not do anything. Then when it came out this was there stuck to its rump.

About the size of a quarter to half dollar.

Did I tell you about the Grammy who brought her GD "Susie") back here after a visit here with my GD? She was not at all happy, b/c Susie had a box that my GD had given her. She had hidden it under her bed. Seems that the girls found a pretty little green egg sitting on the counter. I set it there b/c the egg basket was full. Well, Susie thought that egg looked lonely, so the girls took a little box, lined it with grass and feathers, and Susie took it home and hid it under her bed to hatch. Her Grammy was not at all pleased!

Aart is awesome. That girl has a good thinking/problem solving head on her shoulders! Run into a design problem? Aart's got it covered!

My incubator had been spot on for now almost 18 days (I check at least once an hour during the day), I checked tonight and it jumped to 102 with out me even touching it, them down to 98...uggh. I thought we were good going on day 18...

I find that my temps take a spike around day 7, 14, and lock down. Shouldn't... but they do. I think it correlates to increased metabolic activity.

Uh oh... Thought I was hungry. Got a plate of food took two bites and now I'm nauseated... No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flu, or preg.?????

Yeah I don't hold high hopes. I don't even see them rocking. after this last pip hatches I will be candling them to check for life.
