Not my daughter, she was blessed to NOT have the family gene. This is a friend from another state and she's doing awesome

you mentioned she lost a kiddo. Just putting out when my daughter died we found the group compassionate friends to be immensely supportive, especially the Facebook group.

dawwww not that I can tell yet, but just for chits and giggles,,,, note who has the darker spotted legs.... if they end up female inform me!!!  I know it sounds dumb but its something I have noticed even in the 3rd gen  is there a way you can keep track of that?  edit @venymae

I think this only works for fast feathering breeds or something like that!

You'll want to include, if available: number of eggs set, number of eggs hatched, Were they all chosen to favor female gender, or were they a mixed set of pointy/round eggs. Also, any other information that you think may be pertinent to the study.

Day 20 for the eggs. Think I'll spend the day with my head under the covers... I can only think of all the things I did wrong!!!! I keep looking in the bator and yep.. They all still look like eggs. I'm gonna need lots of coffee today.

I don't recall the wing sexing thing.... (senior moments!) But, the generally accepted "they say" is that wing sexing is only accurate with specific breeds. You can read about it in the "sex linked info" charts. Here's the link:

However, with that being said, I would take the time to look closely at your chicks immediately after hatch. If they match the profile for female, then... you could venture a guess that they are female. I did find it interesting that all of my hatchlings for this year, when looking back at them all... were sexable except for one little cockrel in the last hatch. I had my sex links, no brainer there. Then there were the others: All of the chicks that came from my EE x Pioneer cross were sexable based on leg color. The willow colored legs were all female. The yellow legs were all male. And those females/males bore the feather patterns of the Pioneers from the hatchery in 2014. All the chicks with black combs were female. The one surprise from this year was "Little Man". Leg coloring indicated that he should have been a pullet. He was from my last hatch, and could have been fathered by one of the spring cockrels. He had quite the attitude, starting early on. He was not about to let me mess with his Mama or his hatch mates. He'd come at me with intent to injure! We had a couple of discussions, and he's been a perfect gentleman since. He just may survive to be Jack's replacement! I'm convinced by his comb that he'll pass on the blue egg gene. He has a much nicer comb than his daddy.

IMO, females usually feather out faster than cockrels.
