Chirping
Ok I feel like crud and need some advice.... I am at the end of day 22 with no pips on my last two eggs. The Ameraucana eggs have been hard to candle so it is hard to tell how the chick is doing... I gave up pulled the shells and two remaining eggs and put them in a bag as trash. I started washing out the hatcher bator when I heard chirping from the bag...
I grabbed out the two eggs, one clearly complaining, and put them in the incubator with the turner until the other could warm back up. The one egg has been quiet and has a loose air cell, don't have much hope for it but the other definitely has a live chick in it. I tapped on the shell and broke a small hole but the inner membrane looks pinkish and I was afraid it would bleed if I broke the membrane, so I put it back in.
NOW WHAT?? I know I should have left them alone.,,
Any chick yet? That one probably has no hope, but just leave the other one alone for a while and check on him every now and then. Did you poke the hole in the air cell? And was there a beak in the air cell? You shouldn't poke a hole unless the chick is peeping and horribly malpositioned. Because then you have to sit there for a couple hours... Hope he makes it! He probably will, but don't make the hole bigger. If you see his beak, he will make it out.
