Mine get all the leftovers + all the eggshells, in addition to free-choice layer crumbles.I feed mine good laying feed (min. 90% of diet), and whatever scraps (mainly greens) we have leftover. I think one of my pullets decided to start laying today.

I don't recycle my egg shells. I feed Layena pellets with "oyster strong", as well as free-choice oyster shell. I don't want them to figure out they can get egg shell any time they lay an egg. Just my thoughts...
