Farm Innovators Incubator is doing all right... Not too happy with it, but it works. Took a look at all the wires on my IncuView, one could have possibly burnt up a bit, but I will look more before I rewire it. Don't wanna do anything completely unnecessary or mess it up even more. Oh, and of course, Incubator Warehouse is NOT open on Christmas lol. I thought it wouldn't be, but I tried. At ten am here tommorrow, they are getting called.

I wouldn't mess with it before talking to Incubator Warehouse anyways... they are really good about working with customers... they called me first thing on Mon morn after I emailed them about the wrong bator I received on the Sat before... hopefully they will resolve this to your satisfaction... I've never used the Incuview, though... I prefer the Genesis if I use a tabletop bator, lol...

Good morning, hatchaholics!
I spent last night at the emergency vet. My suster's dog bit mine in the eye. Purely accidental. But eight years ago her last dog bit my last dog in the eye. That dog had an idiot for a vet and went blind. This time around I know that won't be happening.

Whoohoo!! My chickie hatched hall by himself. Just when i wasn't watching too! Lol

Now I have one problem, since his pall did not hatch, he is a loner. How best to care for him? I could try to bring my silkie hen inside but I don't know if she would set on him or not. She is a good mother in the spring and will adopt chicks then but I have no clue about now out of season. I have never tried that.

I have him in with two stuffed beanie chickens right now but I doubt that's going to really fool him. I feel like handling him a few times a day my self isn't giving him proper chicken life, so he can go in the yard with the other chickens some day.

What should I do for him?

I'm glad your lone chick made it O.K.
If I were faced with your situation, I believe I'd try to locate a few day-olds. Best of all would be finding a local source, naturally, but a hatchery nearby would work, if you have one close enough to drive to that won't force you to buy a minimum.

Can you use a big Tupper for a brooder or does it need to be metal/wood?

If I'm not mistaken, Sally uses a large see-through tub; not sure if it's Tupperware, but I'm sure you're using the name generically.

I'd suggest you & Sis make a pact , never to have dogs at the same time again unless one of you moves far, far away
