I might be able to have a small barrier between the two, but all the chicks I have together pile on top of each other.  Would it be more stressful to be separated by a small screen from the others?  I'm hoping for more to hatch - there were 12 viable eggs (I think) that went in.  I'm only on day 21, so I believe there will be others.  

My previous hatch, I had two late (ok, really late) bloomers. I put a screen up between them and their hatch mates for a week, then took it down and watched closely. There were a few times that Late & Later got run over by the crowd initially, but they are running with the big uns now just fine! It may work for you if you get no others.

I have heard of people putting younger chicks in a fish tank inside the brooder to see and hear others but not be in harms way.

I was thinking of using a small dog crate with a smaller holed screening material separating them. Bigger chicks can be all around, and even above. But the little one would be separated.

Thanks. I'm sure it a lot to do with the eggs. They're light brown Barred Rocks, so they're pretty easy to see through... plus the IncuBright does a pretty good job of lighting them up.

I may as well add that all 7 of the eggs I set 2 weeks ago are alive and well with good veining, good movement, and good air cells... good to go. Keeping my fingers crossed they all make it to (and through) lockdown.

these were set yesterday afternoon Christmas Day. 5 assorted silkies and 12 silver spitzhauben 3 of which were severely damaged and sealed with wax. Jan 15 hatch date

I agree. If you give the babies a change to get a little strength built up, they could handle the roughness of the older chicks much better. Putting them with the older chicks right away would most likely result in splayed legs.. at the very least. Give them a week or two, and then carefully monitor them to see how they manage. Like you, I'd prefer it to be with hatch mates. Fingers crossed!
