I dont know anyone that hunts... raised military brat and my dad had his fill of wilderness. He was always concerned about his fire arms around us so we grew up not even knowing he had them... decided to get a shot gun in my thirties and dad finally gave me a small course of how to clean it and stuff but I still needed gun safety.. Still dont know if I could hunt though.

My kids were raised with firearms. In fact, there is a shotgun laying on the dining room table and a rifle by the back door. And always a rifle and pistol in my truck.

A little story, my oldest daughter was a freshmen or so (22 now), I had just gotten back from a cow elk hunt at my buddies in Wyoming. Truck looked like a bomb went off in it so I had her go out and clean it out. I had completely forgotten that my concealed carry pistol was shoved between the seat/console. Low and behold here comes my daughter with the pistol. She had the pistol in one hand, the magazine in the other and a single bullet out of the chamber. Pistol was completely cleared with the slide locked back. I was one very proud dad.

Nice!! My dad was the type of dad that would help others broken down.. only he would pull up many yards ahead, have me jump into the driver seat and say if you sense anything fishy take off. LOL did I tell you, I knew how to drive and fix cars at 13.

We take our boys shooting now and stuff.. but I get why my dad did what he did growing up.
