How old are the legbars?? They made you wait 5 1/2 months?? Torcher! At least it was a decent size

I'll have to check the ages of the legbars either a month older or younger as I had the incubator really running back then.
Good sized egg for sure. Heck the Orpington's were much smaller to start

Do any of ya'll use food coloring in your hens' vents to mark hatching eggs?

I find this idea fascinating, as I suspect I will have this issue.

Just got home and I found
1 egg left under broody
No sign of any chicks
Maybe she ate them?
She won't let any hen near her box

This is what the spent grain looks like. I picked up more today. The grain is sprouted then stopped just as the root emerges. Roasted to different degrees for flavor. Ground a little and then warm water is passed through it to collect the sugars leaving the proteins. Not only do the chickens love it but it makes great bread as well.

That's so interesting - I'll have to see if there's any of that around here (that's not already spoken for).

I can't feed it exclusively as its too much fiber and can hurt more than help.
Earthworms love it as well
As far as availability I have to bribe my friend to get first dibs. I give him eggs for it. When the hens are laying well enough.
The pig farmer is my biggest competition
