I'll be giving it Brewers yeast. I probably won't give it anything for cocci. I didn't for the ducks I raised last year. It's just had a rough start, and I want to do everything I can to help it if it makes it out if the incubator.

Sorry, I was out sick and didn't see the tags in time... I have never given Corid to any of my Calls, even my fave duck who took 3 days to hatch, lol... what I do if I'm worried about them being weak is give them some nutridrench poultry vitamins... straight drops right on the bill, then a bit of plain water to wash it down... don't force it, just dribble it on the top of the tip or along the edges...

Hope the little one makes it...

Good luck at the show! I hear there's going to be a ton of birds there, probably a good thing I'm not going I can see my car filled with birds and my savings account empty!

I put the light on a timer in the are summer. When the days were getting shorter. I just think it is weird that I am doing he exact same as my aunt and friend and even with the same chicken breeds from the same hatches theirs grow faster and produce way more eggs.

need to look at the direction of sunlight air flow of their operation and copy it . this cannot be without reason. question same feed? feeding habits watering habits? duplicate theirs the results should be similar. and then the is the personal factor if they love you they will do better for you . some people baby their chickens . I'm a whip and chair guy am constantly saying KFC is just round the corner and roasting chickens close to them to give them the ideal. what will happen if they quit working .and say your next . doesn't work but worth a try .

@Sally Sunshine My update. 16 eggs in the incubator as a first test hatch from my flock: Russian Orloffs and Half-Orloffs. Initial humidity 38%, will candle and adjust on Sunday. Hatch is due on 2/14 - Valentine's Day. Four were pulled from the fridge and will be a day later, if they are good.
Good luck with your Orloff's. I am interested in your hatch rate - I understand they are difficult. My Orloff Rooster is dominant now, but the hen is molting :-(

Well every year I say I'm not going to spend as much on the garden....well I just put my tomato seed order in.

$50 just in tomato seeds....I'm a sucker for trying new varieties....last year I had 48 plants total. That's probably a bit overkill for two people.

I love growing tomatoes though.

Pepper seeds are next.....

Now I got to get the rest of the garden seeded ordered. I use different catalogs for each varieties.
Not nearly enough tomatoes for two people. You need LOTS of tomatoes if you want to can!

Thanks! It's still alive this morning, but it hasn't gotten up and walked around the incubator yet.

I didn't see if you posted a pic or said, but how is it looking? Yolk absorbed? Navel clean and clear? Is it dry?
It absorbed the yolk sack. It seems to be gaining a little more strength slowly. This is its navel. It looks a little odd to me, but I've never hatched a duckling, just chicks. Sorry the pictures aren't the best. I just edited to remove the first one because it was basically useless.

It looks a bit swollen to me... do you have any antiseptic? Ointment w/out pain reliever or clear iodine, something similar? I would dab a bit on, to be safe... see if you can give it a dribble of water, they dehydrate quicker than chicks... in the brooder now or still in the bator?

Biggest difference with hatching ducks compared to chicks is ducks take a LOT longer to hatch... they take their sweet time, lol...
