Must chop up snake.. Spread its remains around to warn his friends....
That won't do anything.

Don't hurt my friends, the snakes.
They startle me when I stumble on them unexpectedly but I love having them around.
There are no better ratters and mousers. They can get into those tight spaces where the vermin live. They do so around the clock. Cats can't do that even if they wanted to and they prefer songbirds.

Looking for property out in the country... These are things I'm gonna have to keep in mind for my flock....

There are more raccoons by a long shot per square mile in cities than in rural areas.
I'm in a large metropolitan area. We have virtually every predator here including coyote, fox, bobcats, the occasional cougar and bears are closing in.

Biggest problem I have with snakes is not knowing one from another. I know there are poisonous snakes around here, with plenty of cover for them, and I ain't getting close enough, if I can help it, to determine eye shape or whether the darn thing's head is wider than it's body.
