They had DVDs of episodes of the Carol Burnett Show and Mama's Family at TSC today - I should have gotten them...at least 1

Well, Paula is inside in a crate (in the room here with me, crate covered and lights down, so she can rest). She got her first dose of SafeGuard. But she's been panting and holding her wings away from her body at times (it's about 72F in here). She's panting so much/fast I can actually hear her. I'm not sure that there is anything I can do at this point - I hope she makes it. I honestly don't know if she will. Dang that chicken characteristic of hiding illness!!!

Just ordered 8 F2 olive egger eggs for the Easter hatch a long. I am so excited to have some nice olive eggers! Does anyone have any pictures of F2 olive eggs?
Good luck!!!

Well I just ordered 12 Idaho Blueback pheasant eggs to put in the bator. Hoping I have a good hatch and the quail eggs I ordered are still coming but they got behind on orders. Hoping they come in about the same time
Awesome!! Good luck with the hatch!!

I hope everyone else that has set chickens has a great hatch as well!!!

I'm am picking up a white silkie rooster with sour crop tonight. He's getting his own pen for a while. We'll keep him away from my other chickens for a few weeks - how long do you usually quarantine a new chicken coming into the flock? Sour crop isn't contagious, is it is it? He's not as fluffy as my chickens are, but he is cute.

So day 18 starts in 3 hrs... but my 20 month old decided to unplug the incubator at some point today

Snow taffy All you need is clean snow, maple syrup, a candy thermometer and a popsicle stick.

1. Pack clean snow into a pan or wide dish, or just find a good patch outside not too far from your kitchen. 2. In a small pot, bring 1/2 cup of maple syrup to a boil over med-high heat. Put in a candy thermometer, and wait until it reaches 235F. 3. Pour in small streams over snow. It might be easier to put the syrup in a heat proof measuring cup first. Give the syrup 10-15 seconds to solidify a bit on the snow, place a popsicle stick in it and roll the syrup over the stick. Enjoy this while it's nice and cold. Pea devours hers immediately, but Elle and I savor it, trying to make it last. Sometimes this savoring warms up the taffy, and we just roll it back in snow for that cold sweet kick. This will get messy. Someone will have sticky hands. I recommend pulling your hair back from your face :)
Don't eat the yeller snow!!! Some of us still pee off the porch!
