I'll even call my own a reeferbator when its done. Although I'm hopeing to double my current capacity from 4 dz to 8 dz. Speaking of packing things the Sally way I have 16 Dominique eggs coming next week that I had them pack it that way.

I was actually reading Sally's method today. Unfortunately it was a day or two late. Will plan to request that way in the future.

Quote: My Paula was a solo chick for about 4 days until I received new chicks to join her. Initially cried all night long - constantly. Searched and asked for help here on BYC, and on advice, got a hand mirror and mounted it against the wall of the brooder (mirror side down to bottom). She cuddled up to it and talked to her new friend that looked just like her. And I finally got some sleep.

Quote: You gotta get a post driver. It's a favorite tool. I have to do stuff like this myself, and I'm short, to boot. Lots of rocks in the soil. Tiring, but this is the best way.

Thanks @Sally Sunshine . It sounds like you need what I got for Christmas. A post popper! Great tool. Not as nice as the impact driver I asked for money towards a few years ago, but good. My sister who does not do any building asked "just how much is this still you want anyways?" about $200 I told her. I used it on loafing sheds, the barn, and you guessed for my chicken coops.

Been there, done that, lol. Much easier now that I have a puller like this:

Something to be said for using the right tool for the job.

I have this exact post popper. Used it the first time when my (70-year-old) father was visiting from out of state and helping out in some garden chores. Works well, but there was a post I was having a hard time getting out, and I got distracted and inadvertently got my hand between the lever and stand part - and it snapped shut on my hand - almost broke a finger (may have had a hairline fracture). I was trapped there for a while while we figured out how to get me loose. He made me promise not to use it again until he visited the next time. He's such a Dad... (I haven't used it again, now that I think about it...).

Well I had appendicitis and had to get that taken care of yesterday! Feeling sore and tired today. Eggs are on day 3, though I cooked them on day 1 so who knows if they will do anything! I am remaining hopeful and will check on day 7.

Here's for a speedy recovery!!!

And here we go into the closet for our third tornado warning of the night. Unfortunately this part of North carolina doesn't have very many basements.

Hope you're ok - let us know.

I suspect that a second of the cream legbar girls is beginning to succumb - somebody has loose poops just like Paula did, and I know they are susceptible to Marek's anyhow. I'm hoping it's Jenny (already has ocular Mareks, and I have girls and boys form her in this hatch) rather than Lissa. Maybe I was realizing this subconsciously when I started collecting Lissa's eggs (three good strong boys but no girls from her in the last hatch). This may be my last chance (and she's the best of the small bunch, coloring, configuration, and egg color-wise). I'm going to need to just try to select for resistance in their babies - not much else to do. I fear that it's going to suck for a while...
And on a lighter note, look what I caught on camera - Puppy the Nest Pest. She paces outside of this nest box (everyone's favorite) and makes obnoxious noises. Polly (hatchery New Hampshire) is VERY serious about egg laying, hunkers down and thinks very hard about it. Puppy just lost her patience and climbed right on top of her...

Only 7 new posts while I was writing!!!! Quiet night...

Supposed to be no older than 3 days and they shipped out mon. So shouldn't be even a week yet.
Then the large air cells must be due to packaging. Since the cartons were bubble wrapped, RH shouldn't have affected them much, if at all. If you have them settling in a humid area, they should be okay. Be sure to mark the cells before setting so your first candling will give you an idea of whether to go up or down with RH.

will do but gonna need some help with that. I have been reading about marking the air cells but havent done it before. I have been using a dry hatch method on my own eggs which has worked but dont think it will go to well for these.

Also what do yall think the possibility of holding these till the Easter HAL are. The room I have them stays around 50-70% RH. And I have them in a styro carton now.
