Thank you all for the input!
Good morning all! It's looking to be a beautiful day outside. I hope the snow, sleet and rain clears up soon for everyone experiencing it.
I know a quote dropped, there was someone that mentioned the incuview - That is what I am currently using, but I call it my Death bator. I'm not sure if it's JUST my Incuview that is an issue, but I have had the WORST hatch rates since I started using it. \
Who was it that lost 41 of their babies? I'm so sorry that happened. I can't even begin to imagine how horrible that must have been!!
I am starting day 18 on my next batch of eggs. I candled them and some have draw downs - but others haven't started. Should I move them over to the lock down bator? Or should I wait until day 19, like I usually do?
Thanks!!
You're still heeere!
I'm seeing 0/6 of the babies and 17/19 of the older chickens. I know each one separately but they keep moving around too much for me to figure out who's missing... Out of the babies I had my first two leghorns from my hatch.
CANDYI will take it either way but I do love sweet.
I do hope you don't get real sick. I've been dealing with the crud for 2 weeks now. Take care of yourself... lots of rest, vitamin C, and any other stuff you usually take to deal with respiratory ills.yes, I have a horrid sore throat but probably before the night is over ...![]()
I agree on the dog issue. Last time I had dogs threaten hubby and myself, and my flock, I called animal control. A couple weeks later, those same 2 dogs came wandering up the stairs from my raised ranch garage on a rainy day. I calmly went and closed the door, effectively trapping them in my house until ACO came and picked them up. Nothing like having a couple of big wet stinky dogs visiting on a Sunday afternoon, and tracking mud through your house. I say I would not hesitate to shoot a predator dog, but it would rip me up to do so.I dealt with wolves at my last home. Only thing I am suspicious of is that I lost a bunch of adult birds in one night. Many were roosters as they roosted closest to the door. I fell asleep and didn't lock the door. The next day the birds were gone with no evidence of foul play and my birds were roosted 5 and 6 feet up. I wish I had turned on my trail cam. I figure it was either the wolves or humans. But normally the wolves didn't cause me problems and I lived back in the middle of nowhere so I don't know how anyone would know to go back there to steal my birds. I guess it will always be a mystery. When skunks, coyotes or owls have a go at one of my birds, they leave a mess.
And it amazes me how many times you can shoot warning shots at dogs and scream at them and they still insist on coming back.
I would really prefer not to have to kill somebody's pet but some people just don't learn. So far I haven't had to kill any dogs but I sure have gotten frustrated.
I hope you don't lose any more ducks.![]()
hey phil! How have you been?
finally not a great thing to do....but neither is picking up dead ducks you raised from lings.....it didn't even try and eat then just killed for sportI do hope you don't get real sick.
