Im sorry about your chickie i had two chickens this week that decided to got through the fence to go to the front yard where my cerberus was there waiting to play with them too , special ed chickens

Oh mine fly over the fence to sit on the top. Then fly down to the dog side. Not smart. Especially when the dogs are pregnant and starving.

you know I need pictures right hippie????? lol

You KNOW there's gonna be pictures and a full writeup. XD It's the prefab but after some hard work and elbow grease it's become really quite nice. Replaced all the falling-apart bits and put a coat of paint and it's actually lovely.
If you have oak ashes available use them on the roost. It really helps me with the mites. It's not readily available for everyone but if you have them use them.
Never would have thought of that. I know some people put ash in the dust mix for their birds. I'm working on overhauling the coop and run so I'll think about that.

Good morning, everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well today, and if you're not, I hope you are quickly heading that way! Haven't had time to catch up, so I really don't know who's doing what. Whatever it is you're doing, I wish you the best of luck!

Just a quick update on my eggs: I pulled 6 of the 30 on Wednesday, and after double-checking some of the suspicious eggs again last night, I pulled 3 more... so I'm down to 21 as of now. I have 3 more that I honestly think are not going to make it, but I'm giving them the benefit of doubt and wait an extra day or two. Not sure why... I'm fairly certain how those will turn out, but anything's possible. I'm going to predict that by Wednesday (day 14) I'll have 18 left. If I somehow manage to get 12 of the initial 30 eggs to hatch, I'll consider myself lucky...

x 50. No better off than I was yesterday, except for a new drive belt.
Small engine guy just left after 2 hours...stumped him. Thought sure it was a bad switch; it wasn't!
If I had $9k laying around I'd just say h3ll with it & buy a new one at this point.

Last night I set my eggs for the spring time hatch! 22 eggs in total. 8 Marans, 2 Olive Eggers, 6 Barnyard Mixes, and 6 Blue Partridge Brahma. I also have 4 Ohiki eggs that I'm going to wait 3 days on so that they will all hatch at the same time.

 Happy Birthday Jace!!
Well at least you got to spend sometime! :hugs

Jace says "Thank you!"
You made my day, MC - I needed that! :hugs

Thanks - at least it's done. I've only done it once before - hard to be good at something without practice. I'll get there.:/

See? I can enjoy these adorable photos and have a totally SQUEEEEE moment just like Banti - but have NO desire to actually own any. (Maybe it has something to do with needing to build for them and knowing the amount of back pain that would be involved...) Oh, Happy Birthday, Jace!

@LittleLakePhil
 - I missed sending you hugs earlier. :hugs  I wish you could sleep more easily. (Have you tried to sleep in an armchair/recliner? I have had a few relatives that have struggled with sleeping in a bed/flat for various medical reasons and ended up sleeping in a recliner.)

Congrats!!! :clap  You'll be able to breed and hatch your own chickees now! (Most people don't hatch really early pullet eggs though, because the chicks are stronger if the pullet/hen is older.)

I think one of the most important interpersonal and self-preservation skills to have is to recognize when you need to remove yourself from a situation. Glad you stood up for yourself. :hugs

That's a bummer (but SO glad you didn't have an exploder). I wonder if this is because of the really lengthy incubation (and wonder if there are things one could do to mitigate the increased risk of infection)... Looking forward to seeing babies soon! The emus are like the ducklings - no way could I get them, but I can't wait to experience them vicariously through you!

OK, I'm going to take a little nap, I think, then I have to grade exams. (Benny, can you send me grading vibes?)

Just sold 3 BPR cockerel (month-old ) for 15$ each
And 2 BPR old hens (3 years old) and 2 barn mix hen (4 years old and 2 years old) for 120$
What do you think absout the prices?

Was that an error??

I think I should move to Israel, that's what I think!

X2!!! :th

I live in a land where hatching eggs are $5.00...... Can't exactly sell the resulting chicks for much either....
