In the spirit of not wanting to mess it up I didn't update anything. I mess with spreadsheets in excel on a regular basis and am all too familiar with how easy a few erroneous keys can wreck havoc on formulas. It appears as though my profile was still under the spoiler section. Most recent batch is 8 EE's and 33 Giant Cochin that are on day 3. Also have 2 eggs under a broody that should hatch today(one had externally pipped last night).

Yep! I have a backup on the computer and there is a revert button, so it should be okay. I'll add you though. :thumbsup

First ever hatch was huge success. 24 quail eggs and most hatched already. 10-12 hrs early.

I feel like giving a red carpet speach to thank everyone that wrote the countless articles I read to make this first hatch so successful.
:woot :celebrate

@Fire Ant Farm I have done boiked eggs. I have even done egg salad, but I don't like the same thing regularly. I also like a cereal like Honey Bunches of Oh's or Raisen Bran with fresh goats milk.
The wife bit was a friend's joke since I need help around the house with cooking and cleaning. I told her I would rather just be the wife and do that stuff and the jobs around my property while my husband worked an outside job. Oh well, that is never happening now. I am not even sure at this point if I could adjust to someone else around after being alone and doing what I want so long.
Ah, I see. Yeah, I get tired of things sometimes as well. Sometimes I slice some good cheese and toast bread, and put the cheese between the warm pieces of toast (no mayo or spread), and lightly wrap in a paper towel and let it sit in the passenger seat (if I'm driving) or in the desk until I'm ready to eat breakfast. Just trying to think of options. (Sounds like you've been through the options as well).

Yeah, no way I could put up with anyone else at this point in life either.

Sorry for the late reply; had a rough day, beginning to end, and bailed early.
Yeah, I candled (what's now yesterday). 5 questionable that look clear, 7 viable with veins or embryo movement, or both.
Sorry you had a rough day - here's hoping you have a better one today.

Just so happened to time my egg collecting correctly last night. Caught my broody off the nest for her daily stretch. It looks as though at least one egg has an external pip. Looks promising that she will make it this time. Its her first batch so the possibility still exist for issues but at least we made it this far.
Yay!!!! Go broody!

I'm pretty sure I wasn't one of the ones who was helpful, but congratulations!!!

Yikes - sorry for the long semi-preachy explanation when you already raise meat chickens.

It's just that some people want to hatch chicks but say that they think it's mean to kill chickens for food and say they get their meat "from the grocery store".

But now that you mention it, while I've raised some birds (of a given dual purpose breed) with the clear foreknowledge that I would cull the boys for meat, it WAS later that I realized this applied to extra little non-meat type cockerels I hatched, too. I had to learn different processing method(s), and think of different ways to cook them - fortunately, there's lots of good info on BYC.

I had a rough day yesterday because I signed up for a big series of continuing education courses for work this week without being clear on the length of the sessions, so now that I'm committed, I find I have MUCH less time to do my work this week than I thought I would, pushing a lot of it into the evening. I'm beat, and it's only Tuesday. I just need to survive this week. The babies will just have to wait for their new paddock/pen.

Right after waking up this morning, I stood at the bathroom sink bleary eyed, reached for my toothbrush, and then I looked down to find a scorpion in my sink. Yeah, I guess it's going to be that kind of day. (Sorry, no pics - I was too focused on killing it without getting stung).

@ChickenCanoe I see you there - Good morning! Did you ever find a good/reasonable source for drinking water/potable water hoses? (That was you, right?)
