You can run at a lower lockdown humidity 60-65% but other than that not much you can do. They will usually drowned before absorbing yolk sac and veins. What has your temp been at?
OK, thank you; I will do that! My temp has been 102, and I have a still air incubator. My thermometer has been calibrated and is accurate.

Yes! I did that right, at least. Should I lower the thermometer, though, now that the eggs are lower since they're not in the turner? I hadn't even thought of that til you asked ...
What MC said. You can leave the thermo where it is. Studys have shown that a slightly lower hatching temp can aid in hatching.

Do u have a dirt bike
No.
I have 2 cars, 2 bicycles and a canoe.

Excellent guess. I shall file it right next to your roosters laying eggs.
Ooooo so close.
la la la la la

I'd rather take a beating than drive in Chicago. Hope the Cards win!
It is a tough driving environment. It took me 4 hours to get out of town one rush hour.
Daughter went to college downtown Chicago.
She loves to go to Cardinal games there. Cards are up 3-2 in the 7th.

Dear Runt,
Children have dirt bikes. Men have full dressers and at the lest a street bike.
Or white water canoes.

Do u have a dirtbike
NO

I am just wanting to one if anybody has a pic if a girl and a boy on a dirt bike in one dirt bike
I would recommend google images to find a picture of a young man with a girl on the back of his dirt bike.

How about if I own 4 tractors instead?
Jealous except you can only use one at a time unless you have kids and spouses.

Thanks!! These are all silkies in this pen. Other than 4 other adults, the rest are 2 months to 5 months old.

Absolutely!! Thank you! I'm going to let them out and see what happens.

I have an EE and a Black Sex Link hen both brooding some eggs in the regular big girl pen. They are about a week into it. I"m thinking of moving them broody box and all into a separate area. Or at least lowering them from their high brooder box to a lower area, so there isn't such a drop.

For the baby that wasn't getting up. I couldn't stand it's crying, so I opened the bator and it was covered in yolk, so was cemented to the shelf liner, another egg and the side of the brooder. I spent way too much time getting him out - so I'm apologizing now to the rest of the unhatched eggs. We spent about 10 minutes under a stream of hot water, trying to get the goop off. I have no idea how to get the egg shell off the side of it's face. I cleaned him as much as possible and tossed him/her back into the hatching brooder. It's body is mostly clean, but it still has a small piece of egg shell stuck to the side of it's face. I'm hoping it will fall off.

Humidity is back up to 70%, so I'm hoping I didn't do too much damage. The Brinsea is nice, but it isn't easy to open it to quickly take out a chick.

I don't know either but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once.
You are suddenly smart.

Has anyone tried dry hatching? Considering the batch of eggs in my bator was pretty much a failure I think Humidity played a big role. Is dry hatching easier?
Dry is a nebulous concept. All eggs need a certain amount of weight loss. Dry in one place would be humid in another and vice versa.
Chickens and most other poultry should lose 13% of their weight through water transpiration during incubation.

I'm not sure if "dry" hatching is any easier. I would think it would be more work as you're trying to control the ambient humidity in the location that the bator is vs controlling it in the bator itself. I've never tried it. You can use smaller containers to hold water in your bator instead of using the provided channels. I don't put water in the channels until lockdown. Until then I just use a small container and add water as needed based on what my humidity has been at and what my air cells look like.

40?

The humidity in the bator is 70%. I'm trying to lower it a teeny bit without upsetting everything, but I think I'm done changing it for now. I hate humidity! I even got the temperature right this time, but humidity is ........ bad!

Sure you can.
