Question twice i caugjt my incubator down at 18 humidity. Today i caught it at 17. Will my eggs be ok im in cali. The temp has stayed constant tho.
How long was the humidity that low and what day are your eggs on?

yes that is what i mean
Just because something hatches malpositioned doesn't mean it needs washed.

Heres the link to the video on what hea doing

Oh, just seeing this, when my chicks do this after hatching..I use the Poly V.! Works like a charm! Having said that, will add...most of the time! Dip finger into vitamin, run along the beak, several times a day..like 4 times..and then when it starts to show improvement..only give it a 3 times a day for a day, the twice for a day, then once, then it should be doing fine by the 4th day. Good luck..oh, and I also dip water from my finger after giving the Poly V.

My pullets don't think that the fence I have bilt (2 meters) is much of a barrier! :lau

Wow they love it! Great pic Benny! I have a covered run, many many hawks and other flying predators st home.

Thanks! We don't have any aerial predators, but we occasionally have attacks of mongooses, this is a predator that is a nightmare for chicken growers! It is a predetot that can enter to your coop trough a hole of lees than a 10 cm diameter and can kill ALL you chicken in! I saw more then once, coops that have had 20-30 birds that have lost every one of them in one night!
Here it is!

Because it is an excellent snake and rodents exterminator it is protected by the low.

Good night all! I'm thinking I just killed 2 day old babies. I snuck them under a broody that is sitting on infertile eggs. I took 10 of her eggs and snuck in the 2 babies. They wanted to burrow under her, she pecked at them a few times, then let them burrow. She is a first time broody, but has been sitting for more than a month. There are 2 others brooding. Also on infertile eggs. I have some day 16 eggs, should I sneak some of those under them? Or will they eventually realize nothing is hatching and get back to normal?
Day 16 eggs.

They are not going to realize that they are sitting on infertile eggs. Either you need to give them some day old chicks, some fertile eggs, or break them. If they have been sitting for more than a month, I would opt for breaking them or giving them chicks.
Good advice.

I have 3 broodies in my big laying hens pen. They are nesting boxes that are 4 feet off the ground. They are in blue home depot buckets, so I just lifted up one of the buckets to move her into a lower section I had used netting to close off. The 2nd broody was trying to bully her way into the 3rds bucket. So, I grabbed the chicken and moved her into a nesting box I had down below. She never got in the box, and pushed her way out of the area. So, tomorrow I'll see if I can move another bucket, with another broody, to give her a couple of fertile eggs to hatch. The 3rd one that didn't want to stay in the lower area will get some frozen water bottles tomorrow.

Yes, thank you for clarifying that for everyone!!
Good night, sleep well Abi!!

Yes I'm a night owl. I just got back in from a final check on all the coops. Needed a flashlight to see in the coops, but not to walk out there and back.
The tried and true method used for centuries is a wire bottom cage elevated off the ground.
If they can't keep their underbelly warm, the broodiness hormone cycle is broken.

I have a silkie that is sitting on eggs - I have no idea how fertile or how old, and 1 chick that hatched 5 days ago. My first white silkie baby!!!!! The babies will be probably 3 days old -- can I still sneak them under a broody?

Congrats on the 5 she did take. Where did you put the silkie babies? That is odd she didn't take them....
The older the chicks the more independent they become if not with a hen. At 3 days they may take to her.

Good morning
Have a nice breakfast, be kind to your body!
Nice. The cheese looks great. The whole thing looks yummier than mine this morning.
I really miss tropical fruits for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I sometimes pick up a mango or papaya at the grocery. That, star fruit and bananas is about all that's available.

This was mine this morning. It was good, just not as attractive as yours.
Strawberries, blueberries, bananas.

Scrambled eggs and ham.

Peeps are a step in the right direction, for sure.
I'm hearing faint peeps. There are 5 eggs due now and 3 more tomorrow. The only pip so far is the malpositioned one that started yesterday which was a day early.

I'm having trouble. My first ever egg that I've incubated pipped yesterday around 6am and still had not completely zipped this morning, but one of my family for some unknown reason decided they wanted to help it so know they have pulled most of the shell off and I don't know what to do...
They really have to hatch by themselves. I know it's hard when it's the first one. If there's still shell around it, leave it alone.

PA has plenty of deer to shoot! So does Jersey to be honest.
I like breaking hens almost as much as I like breaking eggs.

An elephant might be okay, but not the greatest for warmth.

Good morning, @WretchedEgg !!!
Elephants are great for warmth.

That clip of the tiger you uploaded, I saw it today at NG the mhaoot have lost 3 fingers in his left hand that day!
Thanks for the update.

My eletrice has stopped working again
Retrace your steps. Check all places where wire makes contact with anything else. Make sure it only contacts the power and insulators.
You're learning.
Good luck and keep us updated.

Howdy friends.....65 here today....way better than the 95 yesterday
Wishing for 65. Your cold front is moving through here. Only going to be 91 today and 80s the next couple days.

Incredible storms related to the cold front last night. At least 30 trees were toppled or snapped in half at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. 200,000 lost power mostly south of me. We kept ours thankfully.
A 290 year old tree fell on a moving vehicle with 2 people in it completely destroying the car but they got out alive.

Check out this video.

This is on my daughter's street.

Not all creatures survive.

u think it might have cocci
It can't if it hasn't eaten anything. Coccidia is a protozoa that lives in soil and in wet bedding. Not possible in this case.

i am in a light orange area but feel badly for the others that are not!
Pretty dark red for me.

Thanks! Yes, it sure is!

I don't know if I understand you completely, but no, there's nothing to wash off.

Didn't get to see where your first post was..but, I use Neosporin on my babies when they have a bit of yolk left. Also, works great! It will shrink in time. I hope the vitamins work.
