I bought the large. I figured it would heat the max amount of chicks I can hatch and (so far) I never do staggered hatches so one would do it. So, I'll be buying another one before the years up I'm sure... I've only used it for a day and I love it, so much better than a lamp!

I have 2 huge hover brooders I made from plywood, 2X4s, and electrical equipment I had on hand. One will brood about 75 chicks and the other about 150. That's overkill for most of my purposes but they work great for large numbers in the midst of winter.

For that reason I bought a small and an x-tra small.
Not only is it better than the lamp, it is way more efficient. I was convinced to buy one for the savings. Most people use a 250 watt heat lamp. The xtra small brooder is 17 watts and the small is 22 watts. One can do the math on savings.
After doing the math, I realized I would save enough on electricity after about 1.5 hatches to pay for the brooders.

Banti duck took about 36 hours to stop looking half dead.

Never said you wanted them but I can see how many I can get

It is dried up, but it is not fluffed. I had this with my chickens, and a little bath did the job. But I'm worried about his eye because he is able to close and open it but he preferred to keep it close. His eyes are also abnormally large.
