"Meebrong, no one likes you. You are not memorable..."
Who's got solutions for a wild kid who is bad and disruptive at school? He's in pre-k this year and needs the social structure and speech therapy. We've tried positive reinforcement (rewards for good marks) and punishments (from loss of tv time to outright spankings). He's a wild kid with a good heart, he can be caring and empathetic and helpful. He can also be a holy terror, and it's usually all or nothing. He's got a pretty severe speech delay and I wonder how many problems this is causing. In 18 days of school he has had a perfect day only 6 times. Most days he has accrued 3-4 different infractions.

have you had his hearing checked?

Twice. He can hear the fridge open from across the yard.

Quote: Nope. Bottom frame of the trailer not high enough to keep any but the bottom piece from sliding forward, wanted to put a board in front to eliminate that problem, but then 12' lumber wouldn't allow tailgate to close.Thought I had the hangover tightened down pretty well on the top of the tailgate, but one of the boards slid forward 'til the ground stopped it, under the truck. No real damage done, just a pain in the butt.

oh, that stinks

It's his first time anywhere. He never went to daycare. They think he's been raised by wolves. Judging by his form and technique when he's howling through the grocery store, then maybe he has.

Try getting him very involved in something at home that he really enjoys; a hobby of some kind that produces tangible results. Might work, might not; only thing I can offer.
DW's an Aide on the Special needs bus; has been for 15 years. The load of kids they have this year are so bad that they are searched every day before they can enter the school building, in case they're packing knives or guns. The school's in downtown Baltimore, of all places.

They had a kid Monday who decided he didn't want to go to school, 'cause he's "old enough to do whatever he wants", so he bailed out the back door of the bus & walked away. These hellions are bad enough that they are searched daily, but there's no Security riding along for the protection of the Aide or Driver...something's bad wrong with this picture.

We have fives of tens of chickens, goats, dog and cat, new puppy, and a baby terrapin I found in the yard, but he only wants a hamster. :barnie

I wish he didn't look so rotten when he smiles. :love If he were an adult we'd say he "doesn't back down from a challenge" and call him "entrepreneurial" or "a natural leader." In pre-k he's just a bad kid.
