Morning and evening everyone.

No, and NO! I took advantage of the fact that they seem to see themselves as part of the flock. Before nesting in my coop, they would wait by the food bowls outside in the morning, and stand there while I filled the bowls. They were cool with letting me fill water with them right there too. They eat alongside of the flock. They let me hold them. Duckling doesn't scare them either. I only touched the egg because she doesn't see me as a threat. And now you have me wanting to candle. Only because taking a dove from its natural habitat sounds like something Seth would do.

Going to be watching for the hen that was spending a little more time on the nest yesterday. Her breed isn't supposed to set but she look all the world like she was going to.

I'm having a little trouble with the temperature in my incubator. my thermometers says 99-100 in the bator. But when I felt the dish of water that was in it, it felt cool to me. I temped it, and it said 94degrees. I should go with the water temp right? That's closer to what would be inside the eggs. I would love some feedback. Thanks!

What model incubator? Like others have said have you calibrated all of your thermometers? How long was the water in the bator?

I've had non-broody breeds go broody relentlessly (white and black leghorns) and broody breeds not set - ever. (orps, rocks)
With penes, I always had birds go broody, once 7 at a time. This year, not one has.
No rhyme or reason.

My Cream Legbar that started the broody madness in my coop was a flake about it. She thought she was serious for about a week but then never took it seriously after that. Thankfully when she started her shenanigans two Australorps joined in and were serious.

This is what I'm afraid of but will try anyways if she's still on them.

When we have spells of hot weather, it rarely drops below 80 at night. It's like walking around in hot soup.

I'm headed to Farm & Home for a feed run. I'm out of All Flock pellets. I have a full bag of layer left, about 40# of organic starter and 30# of meat maker left.
These chicks are getting to the point where they're going through about 25 lbs. or more a day.

It will need hand feeding and proper feed. Nest babies aren't independent like chicks.

.......And with OEGB, they're just plain always broody. No matter the season.... Little boogers!

It's entirely possible that she will. I have a production girl raising a chick right now lol.

She definitely has the look of listen mister I'm not laying an egg here. Could be wrong been wrong before and will be wrong again.

Would be easier to get down than duck balut. At least with the dove ya wouldn't have to chew it.

Gross, yet true. I can't see eating a bird with only enough meat for a nugget. But I know a lot of you guys do it.

In addition to the other comments, you could have your water in a cold spot.
