I read them all, I followed the instructions for the first 48 hours.... but I don't have room in my incubator to have the eggs upright.
i get it now, sorry! just try to keep them as upright as possible that would help the aircell, but if others are ok, concentrate on those

I'll be honest. I've known LOTS of people with pet chickens... and I don't know anyone who got sick from them. I know it CAN happen.... but your kids more likely to contact RSV (A SERIOUS complication for people with weakened immune systems) from the grocery store, during the fall or early spring.
my little BIL had it when he was a baby

Pretty much all air cells jiggle, slightly. They don't slide around at all.. The eggs all show development of a dark spot/yolk now.... so I hesitate to mess with them too much, or move them around too much if leaving them alone would be best.

I turned them this morning after candling, I just am not sure if leaving them alone, or turning gently 3x a day is okay at this point.

I figured just wash your often.
And not worry so much.... Living on steroids the way I do I don't get sick often. And I have a weak immune system.
Just use common sense..... No licking the chickens...... :)

That study makes a point about letting kids be near the chickens, or paly with them.

All animals can have the potential for diseases. Why do they focus so much on chickens being worse? Pet birds in the house of any sort, can carry diseases. As can rats, pet frogs, turtles.... (granted, chickens are more common that turtles.) But, there are so many things kids touch, that can have diseases or germs. :/

X2.... I'm not stressing over it.
Common sense is required, but I refuse to stop licking the spatula just because "they" say backyard eggs are dangerous. :D
