Not to mention the gap at the top.

And thats how Chicken is done right! So yummy!!!
Mushroom, Spinich, Garlic Chicken Alfredo!
Looks luscious. Yum.

Skirt what?

Pardon me for asking, not sure what you meant. We had chicken wire all the way around the inside, bent down into the grass. It's just temp. If you mean, something might dig under it, I haven't had trouble yet with predators like that. I was more worried about the cats climbing in from the top (hence the chicken wire over the top.) LOL
If you build it, they will come. My first alarm was seeing the gap between the roof and the chain link. Raccoons can do that much easier than cats.
Good thing you live in a rural area where they are less densely populated. Weasels are a problem too.

Our terrier sleeps outside, and our great pyr's will too once they are trained/fullsized.... So far, we haven't had anything go after any of our animals, except our barn cats trying to get to baby chicks when they aren't full sized.

We have a lot of wildlife, that's easier to get too around here than our chickens, which helps. I honestly haven't ever seen a racoon, weasal, fox, or coyotee near us. I was expecting to have to have a lot of safety guards in place, when we first started having chickens, but so far... no sign of anything.

I think the sheep dog that lives down the street, has wiped most of them out, too.

Edit : There's not much I can do for this kennel, for now. It's temporary, It's supposed to be portable, so I don't want to put an expensive, metal roof on it until I've decided where I want it for good.

There's no gap at the top. He was putting wire over the top in order to make sure it was closed off. ;) That's what he was doing in that picture.
