incubator went up to 103....

search on how to fix a spraddle leg it works on quail and chickens. basically you use a tiny band aide and fix the bad leg to the good leg to hold it straighter for a couple days or so...you can find info on here for it. good luck and congrats on the little ones.

It's not spraddle leg. He doesn't want to bend them. He just stiffens and straightens them. It's really weird.
The other two each have a curled foot, but they are getting around fine. I thought about taping their feet so they are in a brace to make them walk right... But not sure if maybe I should wait until they are a little bigger.
Two died while zipping... Some water spilled in the bator and they drowned. :( . I didn't see it.... And went down and found them. So sad. I am leving the remaining ones one more night... But I can't imagine they will hatch. I mean this is like day 22... Should they really be hatching over a three day period??

O n a good note 16 of my chicken eggs are developing , taking up almost half of the egg... the rest were not fertile.

Hi

Temp fluctuations can be alarming, but I have read that people use flat rocks in the incubators to control temps. Of course it takes a few days to get to the right temp but allowing them to warm up in an oven to body temp will shorten it a bit. The rocks give you hold over temperature control while you turn or add water, an during a short outage will help keep temp up, next time put blankets over them to help keep the heat in.

I hope they get well! As for the remainder eggs, did you try candling?

Interesting, I've also heard people using soda or water bottles to even the temp out a lil.

Soooo... On my last batch if buttons and tonight is the last night of turning. So before lockdown I have candled. To my surprise, I have one that hatching now! I didn't even see the external pip when I picked it up. But candled and see a lil chick already pipped. Cool, but 3 days early?

Could have been the temp spike but is this gonna be ok for the chick?

Egbert the bad legged chicken passed away this morning.
I think we are set at six and two with turned in feet, but they get around ok. I will probably be making them some casts today to help them straighten their feet.
Remaining eggs are let in the bator and waiting to see if anything comes of it. All in all, ci think I'm ok with the outcome... By I do regret. The two that drowned... :(

I'm sorry to hear. I have my last 4 in the bator due tom. I've only had 1 that stopped developing 1-2 days before hatch. Other than that they all are doing awesome.

So the lil guy is still in the same spot with his lil tiny beak poked out of his pipped hole. I hope he's able to turn so he can zipp. This is the part that worries me. I always hear about how chicks pipped and never made it after that =(
