No eggs from my birds but I set over 500 quail eggs. Fertility not the best in these candled last night and toases 125 that weren't
Fertile or quit.
My a&ms should start hatching in a week. Bob's in 2 weeks.

I have a serama hen trying to be broody!

Haven't set anything yet, really wish the calls would start laying again. And I'm looking for some Royal Palm eggs.

I hatched a dozen shipped eggs last week, they are 13 days old now? I started with 15 eggs, had 12 make it to lockdown and I have 13 chicks. I had a couple of untested broodies, so I gave them 3 eggs. The rest incubated. Mine started hatching and I saw a pip on one of their eggs. Inside, I had 5 hatched, so I took them out to the broodies and they slipped under. Pipped egg had been kicked out. It was still chirping,so i took inside. Watched moms on the camera I had set up, saw one try to kill a baby, so she got booted back into her other coop. When I did that, she had been on a zipping egg, I checked on that zipper about 20 minutes later, and it was shrinkwrapped, so I brought it in to help. Left them the incubator alone for the night. By morning all but 1 egg was hatched inside, and I had the right number of chicks for eggs. Saw that the broody had an empty shell. So, I gave her the rest of the chicks. Took me about 5 days before I had a chance to count the babies and discovered the extra chick. So, she must have failed on the 2 single chick eggs, but successfully hatched twins?

I ended up with 5 blue and 2 splash Silverudd Blues, and 4 girls and 2 boy 55 flowerys. It had to be the blues that twinned on me, and I do have 2 that are MUCH smaller than the others, and one just isn't thriving, with a crooked book. But the other one is the cutest chick I"ve ever hatched!


My Frilky broody is doing great with all the little ones. I do have a heat plate in there, that about 5 of the babies sleep under, and use during the day when mom is out dirt bathing and such with the bulk of the littles....

No more hatches planned!!!

do you have a picture of the ones you think are twins? and the others?

My 2 little eggies hatched! I got 1 little silvery silkie chick and 1 mystery chick. The silkie seems to have an issue with its one leg. I'm going to be watching closely to see if it straightens up or if it needs some kind of intervention. The mystery chick looks just like a BCM chick, except it hatched from a cream colored egg and there are no BCM in that pen (and no, there were no fence jumpers) lol. The feathered legs and only 4 toes say either brahma or cochin cross. Since it has a straight comb, I'm assuming cochin but there doesn't seem to be enough feathers on the feet for pure. It's name is Mystery or Mr E

Ok, so there is the facebook Farming Co op, where they offer something for a few dollars per chance, so many chances available, everyone pays, but only 1 person wins. I've gone a little nuts, in participating, but I think I need to buy a lottery ticket next. 1st item was eggs, I didn't win, I lost $4. 2nd item was a $1000 coop/run, I bought 2, $10 chances (there were 290 chances available). I won it. 3rd time - eggs, I didn't win, lost $6, 4th time, I won eggs, 5th time, I won eggs. I've been throwing money at the egg auctions, buying 1 or 2 chances (they range from 2 to 6 per chance). Just so I don't feel so undeserving about winning the coop.... I really didn't want to set any more eggs...... I currently have 4 more I've thrown a total of $35 or so at, and is it bad if I hope I DON'T win them?

wow, I wish I had your luck on the raffle clubs! I had to ban myself from them for putting too much money in on raffles and never winning anything except a free space on a bigger raffle lol.

Hope everyone is having fun hatching! My bator's been humming since before Christmas. My brooders are packed to the max! I'm waiting on my turkey hen's breeding injury to heal so I can use the crate she's in for another brooder lol
