Sounds like you followed all the rules in hatching, wish you well in the next hatch

That is probably why you got such a great hatch now you know
it doesn't just happen it is a lot of work to get everything just
right to achieve your goals ......

i got a great hatch because I sucked the moisture out of the air with a dehumidifier I disassembled and carried in 2 suitcases on a 747

i had to work out a way to match my hatches this side of the pacific My first hatch here in SoCal was 17 from 18 and has not wavered for local eggs - i did not just throw eggs in a bator - i researched the heck out of it first. I weighed eggs and plotted spreadsheets.

my next batch of shipped egs will be set there March 2

i would love to get 60% out of them. thats the number that survives candling on day 10

We started clearing out my NEW CHICKIE room and it has an AC/Heater in there and I have a backup dehumidifier if needed in the summer. If my hatch rates go up much I will be in BIG Trouble. OK I already am.....

My chicken buddy is coming over Saturday and we are going to make me some new brooders that work better for me. 2 brooders with 3 levels. MIGHT make a 3rd one for the bigger chicks too.... not sure. Might redo my current one but the wire floor thing might not work in that one. MAYBE I can make a tray to catch the droppings. IDK.

the next hatch is well underway 33 eggs 31 hatched. 2 Barred Rocks pipped and chirping. Its 16 hours into day 20! There may be only one thing better than hatching chickens in Arizona...and that would be hatching chicks on the beach near the equator! We may get a 100% hatch!!! Its almost unbelievable!!

Oooops, my last comment ended up smack in the middle of your comments...darn tablet! Let me try this again...

That explains it all a dry hatch that works for me best for the last 40 years but the
dehumidifier I have yet to use that is a great idea and glad to know it works so
well ,,,, my Grandpa was the one who got me into the dry hatching ....

not sure if you're aware, those hatch rates are in the Philippines where he's been fighting the equatorial humidity issues...
