Their is a song I learned at Girl Scout Camp an eon ago. I haven't found a midi file for it so you could hear the tune but think Dixieland Jazz with the verses done slow and dirge like going to the funeral and the refrains happy and lively (like When the Saints Come Marching In).

Until that Rooster Came Into Our Yard

We had a chicken. No eggs would she lay.
We had a chicken. No eggs would she lay.
Until that rooster came into the yard
And caught that chicken right off of her guard.....

She's laying eggs now! Just like she usta!
Ever since that rooster came into the yard!
She's laying eggs now! Just like she usta!
Ever since that rooster came into the yard!

We had a cow. No milk would she give.
We had a cow. No milk would she give.
Until that rooster came into the yard
And caught that cow right off of her guard.....

She's giving eggnog! Just like she usta!
Ever since that rooster came into the yard!
She's giving eggnog! Just like she usta!
Ever since that rooster came into the yard!

We had a dog. No pups would she have.
We had a dog. No pups would she have.
Until that rooster came into the yard
And caught that dog right off of her guard.....

She's having bird dogs! Just like she usta!
Ever since that rooster came into the yard!
She's having bird dogs! Just like she usta!
Ever since that rooster came into the yard!

We had a gum tree. No gum would it give.
We had a gum tree. No gum would it give.
Until that rooster came into the yard
And caught that gum tree right off of it's guard.....

It's giving Chicklets! Just like it usta!
Ever since that rooster came into the yard!
It's giving Chicklets! Just like it usta!
Ever since that rooster came into the yard!
I am a lifetime Girl Scout. (almost 40 years now) and I have never heard that song! It is great. I will have to figure out the tune and teach it to my grandkids!

I am also a longtime Girl Scout, having gone to camp and worked at camps, and I have not heard that song. I have heard lots of chicken songs but not that chicken song. I just shared it with my daughter, who is also a Girl Scout.

I recorded the song on my Garage Band program. It is an Mp3 format. Lets see if I can get it to hook to this post.

Rats! I can't without posting it to a website online. I will see if I can get it to load to YouTube but if you would like to have it before I get it figured out PM me with your email and I can send it direct.

So are you selling any of the SLWx Choc splits or retaining them all for the next generation?

I will sell the black ones. some might be pullets but most would be roos some roos will be split for choc too but no way to know without testing them. I have to keep all the choc pullets to breed back to SLW and THEN keep all the roos since those will be splits and I forgot what I do next...... :(

Dottes!

I have SLW hens with a Choc Split wyandotte roo. I know I am going to keep ALL the choc pullets. They will then be breed back to SLW roo and I am going to keep the roos from that cross they will ALL be split for choc since it is sex linked and will come from the Choc pullets from the first cross. What do I do with the Choc Split SLW roo? breed them BACK to their dam or back to SLW and keep the Choc Pullets again? Now that it is morning that makes more sense breed the choc split/SLW roo back to SLW pullets and keep the choc laced silver pullets and breed those back to the choc split/SLW roo and keep ALL the choc..... then I really have to work on the lacing.

The orps are just solid color so no issues there. Pattern birds can throw me on what direction to go.
