Holy crap!! I'm getting things ready to put eggs in the hatcher today and I realize, I don't have anything to put them in after they hatch! I can make another brooder, but I don't have another heat lamp!!!! I have my normal "baby brooder" for fresh hatched chicks being used as an infirmary right now for the assisted chick from the last hatch. All the others already sold, so I moved it into there so it would have more room to get exercise. Looks like TSC here I come today!!! Lol I'm such a dork!
 
Hello my name is Tracy and I am an incubating addict. After my first two attempts were totally unsuccessful my third produced 3 slikie cross chicks (maybe 4). I have come to the conclusion I need to "practice" much more. I just bought a young cockrel to make it possible to "practice" regularly ;)

Well, not sure if it is or not, will know in about 26 days... I did a lot of reading yesterday after seeing your post, I was worried, although I hadn't intended nor wanted the goose eggs, they are in and I don't mean to sound like I didn't care.. I am hoping raising them higher will solve that problem, I know I have other challenges to face, especially during lockdown and the high humidity needed for the turkey and geese as opposed to the chicken .. I have also read up on misting the goose eggs and I am not so worried about that, a lot of different opinions on if its necessary or not.. right now my temps are holding where they should be, I had humidity issues with my last hatch, it would drop to sometimes 4% thru the night...Realized it was the fact that the space heater is sucking moisture from the air, added a humidifier and it is now holding for several days at 50-53% This is all a work in progress and opinions are always welcome!!

today marked day three.... As I was turning the goose eggs decided to candle a couple, I use my dads old slide projector so the light is really strong... Couldn't see any veining yet, but changes going on...Hard to explain but from what I have gathered I am hopeful I will see the veins by day 5 or 6... One egg still had light yolk but in the other 5 the yolk is darker than before and there is a small circle forming... Temps are steady at 100.3-101.8...humidity is staying between 49-53

I left the turkey eggs in the Turner, they are my #1 concern and what i have hoped and dreamed about hatching, the goose eggs not at all but accepted them more because she was just going to toss them and i figured what the heck ... instead of taking the turkey eggs out of the Turner and having to raise each of them to the level of the geese eggs I instead just raised the goose eggs. I took an egg carton and cut the bottom out and cut it in half lengthwise and was able to lay the goose eggs horizontally on that bringing them up to the level of the turkey eggs... will figure out the chicken eggs when I place them in Saturday

has anyone tried the
stc-1000 temp controller

im looking to upgrade my water heater to one, and make some changes to my icechest incubator

it seems like a simple way to control the temp similar wireing, and i see that its digital, with probably more accuracy , will be ordering from ebay hopefully not too long
