Run Run away as fast as you can......

Now that I said that.

and Welcome to IA ( aka Incubators Annonymous )

I have a Farm Innovators Pro Series Circulated Air Incubator. It does well. Would love to get a Brinsea, but can't afford it. My husband is suppose to build me a cabinet incubator, but I have not seen him do more than price out parts and buy me the Farm Innovators........
thank you! HaHa! I should run! I've been trying to talk myself out of hatching for months! I thought I had succeeded when I got my chicks...but then the hatch bug hit even harder!
I've been looking at the Brinsea mini automatic. It seems a little pricey. That's why I asked. I guess you get what you pay for. :)

It is working just fine.... that is why we PLAN AHEAD! I bought 30 egg flats for my incubator and it is funny but I use most of them by the end of the week. My wall is 12ft long. With what is in the incubator and holding eggs I don't have many left. I had 18 before.... how did I get by without the trays.
Holy crow . . . how did you ever manage on just 18 flats. . . . .

I do have 15 eggs under two broody muscovy hens-- ducklings in my future. I"m terrible at hatching duck, but love eating them. I have a BO broodie and I suddenly erealized she could be hatching something . . . the other girls just squeeze in an lay. . . .

HI! I'm new to chickens and new-ish to BYC. I am very quickly becoming addicted to everything chicken! :)
I would really like to try hatching some chicks of my own. Just a few. Maybe 8-10.
Is there a brand or type of incubator that is better for just a few than others?
Or would I be smart to get a bator that is a little bit bigger?
Thanks!
In all seriousness----- buy the best quality hatcher you can afford. I manage with an LG and a homemade coolerbator and do just fine. Join the Little Giant thread if you go that route. ALso, start hatching via eggs you can pick up near you. Look at criags list, someone offering chicks for sale is likely to have hatching eggs for sale. Learn how to hatch those, then progress to shipped eggs.

ANd build a lot of pens!!

I didn't have as many birds back then. I used egg cartons to store eggs for selling hatching and eating. Now I just keep eating eggs in the reg egg cartons.

@CashandTracy Thanks for sharing.

I am going to set a new hatch tomorrow. I am setting a dozen probably, with 2 being Sultan eggs. Very teeny, tiny eggs. I used an egg carton, as a turner last time, but, this time I am just going to lay them in the incubator, and turn them. I think I am going to put the two tiny eggs in the middle.

I am using a Hova-bator Incubator. I followed the directions to a T. I'll continue using the thermometer that came with it, until I can get a new one. I hope it works. I sealed one of the vent holes on top of the incubator this time, as I left it open last time. There is only one vent cover, so...

I have my incubator sitting in my entertainment center in my front room. The first hatch, it sat open, and exposed. This time, I am going to keep it closed, and hope that it will make a difference. I'm not sure what the temp will be, if I close the doors, but, I'm going to try it tonight, and see what happens.
I am using a Hova-bator genesis for my incubator and a Hova-bator 1602N for the hatcher. I keep both in an unused bathroom where I can keep the room temp stable. I try to keep the room between 73-78F. It will sometimes drop below 73 on cold nights but I've never seen it below 70. I bought a digital thermometer from incubator warehouse for around $20, it does a decent job of watching temp and humidity, except when the humidity is high. That is why I LOVE my genesis it monitors temp and humidity wonderfully and I feel confidant about what it tells me. There are better thermometers out there and I plan on getting one. I heard Brinsea makes a nice one and if you get it thru them it is guaranteed accurate?? Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I get to set my next group sooner than I had orginally thought
