Well, when an empty incubator stares at you accusingly, you have to fill it!

I'm going to be looking for fertile eggs soon. My incubator has been empty for 2.5 weeks and it's killing me!

LOL...congrats on making it that long!!!!!

What type of eggs are you thinking about getting?

Well, when an empty incubator stares at you accusingly, you have to fill it!

I'm going to be looking for fertile eggs soon. My incubator has been empty for 2.5 weeks and it's killing me!

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggg! It's only been 11 days for me. I have eggs sitting on the table and I haven't even gone out to look for eggs today. I am trying very hard to NOT put any eggs in my #1 incubator. #2 has Silkie and mixed chicken eggs in it. They have been on the same length of time the other has been empty. I am trying very hard to end incubating for this year but I did want to try an experiment of washing eggs with bleach and hot water to see how well they would hatch. I am putting it off because I want to try it with duck eggs and I really don't want more ducks, I have a duck sitting on 9 eggs now, plus I have 4 adults and 4 juveniles out in the pen. I have a swap in the works but we are waiting until next month so I am trying to keep the one empty to save it for the swap.

Good plan....save it for the swap...gives you a REASON to leave it empty and helps you resist temptation!!!! Empty bators just call to you..."HEY....EGGS...PLEASE!!!!! I SAID PLEEEEAAASE!!!" LOL

swaps get me into trouble I just bred some rabbit yesterday so i would have kits to sell at a small animal swap in Sept..which has every shape and color of egg and bird you can imagine....I am taking chicks,rabbits juvinile birds , hen saddles...who know what will come home

How fun! And really when you think about it...you are trading what you have for something else...so how much trouble could you REALLY get in???

Well, it helps that I have it kind of hidden. It is sitting under the other incubator to take up less room on the table. LOL I have 2 incubators, two large totes with chicks in them and 3 cartons that hold 18 eggs each sitting on it. I have pine shavings and chick starter under the table. Oh, I forgot, I have to have space to write in my book for record keeping. LOL I wonder if I could fit another tote on the table if I put the other filler in the table? ROFL

LOL Sounds interesting. Where are you located? If you fill out your profile it will add where you are above your join date. I don't think many of us put directly where we are, just a general area.

How fun! And really when you think about it...you are trading what you have for something else...so how much trouble could you REALLY get in???

Oh, I don't know about that. If I went to the swap to sell, my hubby would be just a little upset that I didn't come home with money instead of more eggs or bunnies or who knows what. LOL
