Incubators Anonymous

I've got a 48 egg unit and it's well built and simple to use. The temperature cal. And humidity are way off and don't work well at all. Same your money unless you have nothing better to do than check your bator every hr or so.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles!!!
I'm getting an incubator with a thermostat and auto turn b/c I don't have time to check every hour.

I get away with hatching more chickens if I'm doing it for the kids!

Is there a Pre-Enabler Award??? If there is I nominate @CharterChick for it!!!

I'm wondering if anyone has attempted to modify a sportsman hatcher 1550 with an auto turner of some kind?

much to my husband's regret, I've obtained a 1550 and wondered if anyone's tried making a turner to go in it? or if the turner mechanism for the sportsman incubators could be retrofitted in?

the thermostat/computer is designed to work with the turner so probably a matter of wiring one in, but would need specs on the turner motor to find the right one.

I'm not much online any more, but if someone could PM me if/when you reply, I'd be grateful.

I have some questions that hopefully someone can answer. I am about to start my first hatch. I am using a Hovabater 1602N thermal air. So far I have got the temp up to 93 and the humidity at 40%. I know I'm not quite there yet but is my temp supposed to be 101 and humidity 45%? Also when I finally get it to what it's supposed to be how long should I make sure it maintains before I set my eggs?

I got one chick out of my last hatch. Here's Golden Nugget (b/c she, I hope, hatched out of an egg from Goldie).
I had to assist a little. I had sworn off assisting, but...she needed it!!!

She came out, f-i-n-a-l-l-y!!!

She still thinks the therMOMeter is her mother.

I'm thinking it's a girl. I'm hoping it's a girl!!!

Since only one hatched, I have to set more eggs so she can have a flock.

I like to have my incubator to run 24 hours at the right temp before I put the eggs in. Your Humidity does not have to be dead on as close as the temp needs to be. 101 is what most have the temp at on a still air incubator. Good Luck!!

Hi, My name is Bazy

I am a hatchaholic

I joined the New Year's BYC Hatchalong

Do I have time to hatch one more batch before the hatchalong hatch?

I just had this need to confess this I guess..LOL

(we need to petition Webster's to add hatchaholic with a capital "H")

There is always time for one more hatch! ;-)

I joined too. And set 27 eggs yesterday and have another 14 ordered to arrive any day :) Still haven't found eggs for the hatchalong. I'm hoping to find Sebright eggs!

Right next to 'Hatchaholic' they'll need a group pic of all of us. Or we could have an egg setting contest to determine which of us deserves the spotlight! You know... Just to make it fair...
