Incubators Anonymous

I guess I am addicted too....we are still gathering materials to build a DIY incubator and I just now arranged to get fertile eggs from a local friend who has a roo (we can't have one inside city limits). Sheesh.

I think it is a pretty harmless addiction . It could be worse, you could spend your money on drugs, alcohol, or cigarettes . And all the pen building and egg gathering gets you outside for exercise.

I think men are all about control. Husbands seem to live their money piled up in the bank, not frittered away on chickens etc. But what joy does that give you? I enjoy my chickens so much! The other thing is they don't want to expend too much effort . Heck, I build my own coops anyway. My husband is being a good sport about it all

Lockdown starts tomorrow for my second hatch. Then the wait begins for the Blue and Black Copper Marans Eggs.... just waiting for the call to come get them next week! Got to finish the other brooder box for this hatch and I guess I will need another for the Marans too....

then I am done... till I get some Leghorns eggs or something else I need. Oh yeah... the new Mille Fleur D'uccle trio is coming tomorrow!!! Finished, mostly, their new home then the eggs will be coming soon enough.

Hello group. My name is cuntryuppiechick and I am an incubator addict. I thought I could stop because my silkies would grow up and be broody and I'd be over it. Now my family is making it worse and enabling me. My mother went out on her own and bought chicken books so she could speak the lingo and be a good chicken babysitter. My dh tells me to bid on any auction I look at and to make more swaps for eggs. He even told me to get two more incubators and is planning his homemade incubator. Even my so called friends are egging me on to get more chickens so they can become my egg customers. I've told them just to get eggs from the store. It's a gateway I told them. One has even started suggesting she do a small hatch...just so the kids can see them hatch. But I know she won't be able to stop and the kids are going to want to keep the chicks they hatch. Where does it end?

Welcome chick, I have seen you on the swap page. I am pretty sure being addicted to chickens is incurable and contagious. But mostly painless except in the pocketbook.:-D
