Incubators Anonymous

I just ordered Araucana chicks so I will have more attractive eggs to trade people, making it easier to fill my incubator. *hangs her head IN DELIGHT* I discovered last night the eggs that girl swapped me for a rooster are all old and probably not viable, and in the process of being whiny about an almost wasted incubation (I have maybe 12 eggs in there that are mine, and those I know will hatch just fine) the DH had pity on me and told me I could get chicks.

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! So 10 California White, 10 Araucana, and 5 assorted cochin bantams are going to be on their way soon. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

This is how I know I am an addict, see a moment of pity for me and JUMP ON IT! Aw, he feels sorry for me, let's see if I can turn this into eggs or chicks.....

Well I just don't understand.... I only have 5 Minorcas, 10 silkies and 47 happy eggs in the bator

They are due to start hatching on Wednesday and I need more eggs

The bator just can't be empty, that's like wasting time as far as I can see. Maybe i will just sneak some in

Tell him you will save on heating bills this winter because an incubator is an economical way to add heat to the house, and so is brooding lamps. You barely have any chickens at all, I don't think he knows what he is talking about.

Hi just doesn't understand.......I keep telling him that if I go ahead and hatch out silkies all winter, I will have a pretty good amount to choose my starter flock from in the spring. They won't all be perfect for breeding. So I will sell those. Here is where the problem come in..... He thinks I will never get rid of any.

Tell him you will need his help setting up your selling ad on Facebook when the time comes, let him handle that little job and maybe he will be content knowing some will be sold. I'm so lucky my husband spoils me with the animals I have, I had a breeder up the road stop breeding rabbits because his grandkids grew up and didn't care about having bunnies around, and my hubs let me take them all and let the big ones free range in the yard while I raise all the babies to be free range bunnies. I now have a yard full of bunny rabbits and chickens and he's totally okay with it.

I also make it a point to tell him how much per chick I can get when I sell in the Spring, and mention something he might like that could be bought if I hatch and sell enough. That seems to bowl him right over as well.

WOW I sound manipulative!
