I would like at least 1 roo and 2 pullets of the mottled (black or blue doesn't matter), and probably 2 or 4 pullet chicks in mille fluer, I don't need anymore millie roos

He is very sweet, probably 4-5 months old, very young.

Yeah, Marans chicks are little psychos. My boy Mystery, as good as he is now, I wanted to ring his neck when he was a chick! He drove me nuts and on an almost weekly basis I announced that I was going to get rid of him, but I didn't. And now I'm glad that I didn't cause I LOVE that boy! He is so good to his ladies, he takes excellent care of them all, and they adore him. The babies I have now, they aren't as bad as he was at that age, but they are feisty too. I have 2 BCM and 2 Cuckoo. One of the BCM is a crybaby! I think I lucked out this time around with my hatches though, because I have a bunch of very good natured babies. I hatched out a pair of Silver Lakenvelders for my daughter, and I just love that silly little roo! He likes to come sit on the back of the recliner with me, and the girl decided to hop into the new brooder and she won't come out. She lays down with the babies and lets them crawl up under her to sleep. She's very motherly. Didn't think that was a Lakenvelder trait, but hey, she's keeping them from crying, so I'm happy! Only my one little EE roo is a booger. He does not want to stay in his brooder. Other than that, I have really good babies. As big of a pain as the Marans are, I want more. Eventually my dream is to get the Golden Cuckoo Marans. Those are gorgeous!

Yes, the golden cuckoos are very pretty, I'm not sure how you'd make those? I would think you could at least try by crossing the cuckoo and the black coppers, since the 'golden' part of them would come from something with the black copper's markings

These BCMs are wild! I've never seen chicks act this way! I have a bantam cochin and a cochin/silkie mixed chick in their brooder, and I swear those chicks think the marans are crazy too

They kind of stand off to the side and look at them like WT???

They do seem to be calming down some though, they are almost 4 weeks old. Another couple weeks and I'll have to be finding somewhere to put them outside too, thank goodness the hen with ducklings will be losing her ducks soon, and the millie's chicks should be old enough to seperate by time that the marans need to get kicked out

That will free up 2 cages, and there's a couple rabbit cages in the barn that don't have broody hens in them (surprisingly!).
Right now I have 10 hens with chicks, and 3 more setting on eggs

I can't wait to put some of mine outside. The weather hasn't been stable enough for my taste to do that yet, but I'm going to work on moving the EE's and Bantam Cochins outside probably tomorrow, weather permitting, and then check on them a hundred times as the night progresses. They are, for the most part, fully feathered now, so I think they'll be ok out there. Then, in a few more weeks I'll work on putting the Sussex and Marans out. They aren't fully feathered yet. Hope, my BR, is in that group. I still have to wait before I can put the standard chicks in with the standard flock. I really don't want them to injure these babies. I have 2 little Marans mixes that I hatched from my own eggs, and the chicks are much more energetic than the bantams they are in with. The little Cochins and d'Uccles stand back and watch them, as though they aren't quite sure what to make of them, but the chicks are super sweet. One hatched out with a white spot on the back of it's head. Interesting. I have more in the bator that I will be bringing with if anyone is interested in them. I can't keep them all, cute as they are, lol. The idea of crossing the BCM and Cuckoo is not a bad idea. I might try it just to see what I get.

Well, one thing your sure to get is very dark eggs
