Have a great time at the fair. Drink lots of ice water.
All this talk about buff brahmas... I have a rooster but I'd really like a hen. I have a couple light brahmas. The lady in Trafalgar gas a golden laced buff which turns out is not what I'm looking for. If anyone breeds them and has chicks in the spring let me know!!

We got two roosters from her for my children to have has pets. They are very friendly little guys. Although she tells me they will be on the larger side when they are full grown. One of the roosters we chose was a buff brahma and he is now named orange buster (our first rooster was Buster a BLRW). The other one is a black mixed rooster. He is so soft and adorable with the face and neck of a black americana. He is now named him Eeyore. My DH said if Eeyore was a chicken it would look like this black one. DH also said that we should limit how many roosters we let the children name.
CCCCCCCCCHICKENS- they all look great! How's the other faverolle doing? The orloff looks great! Do you know their sex yet? Just curious how they turned out. The one does look like a hatchery Cornish to me as well.
I also vote Dark Cornish. I got a bunch of them in my pan fry mix from Meyer hatchery. They like to free range a lot for me.

I really need help here guys. Please. And thank you.
I really don't know, sorry. I do know that when my chickens have a full crop I have noticed it have a texture similar to a balloon filled with sand. I also don't know if there is anything that can be done about it if it were sand other than surgery. I think the best bet is to just wait and see. Sorry again for nt having a definite answer for you.

Ok, thanks. I was looking at pics trying to match it up last night and that is what I thouhgt. I new when I bought them that there was no way they were black stars.(i wouldnt of bought them if they were black stars). I like mine a lot.

have you searched sour crop? I think the treatment involves massaging and force feeding some kind of edible oils. Lots of fluids too. But I had heard it was more likely to happen with long items like blades of grass or spaghetti. All of this is hearsay as I have not fully researched it yet.

Oh thanks! She doesnt seem to having any problems. Its usuall t soft when its full, but like I said the soft nectarines were covered in the sand from the run so she may have just gotten a little extra. She is super small, even for a silkie. So if her crop is full its big!. I'll keep an eye on her.

I dont know what is wrong, but it dosent sound like anything serious to me. I hope all ends up being well with her.

Ok all of you incubator/hatch experts out there I have a question. I had two eggs in one of those little mini dome incubators from mcmurray. Today I was on day 22 - to this point I had no egg movement and no pipping but I had read it can take a little longer than 21 days. When I came home from work there was a smell like something had died coming from the bator. I thought about leaving both eggs a couple of days but I was afraid the smell was going to take over the house so I opened the bator and candled both eggs. The first one was completely dark. I couldnt even see the air sac. The second one I could see something - I thought I saw a dark spot move and I could for sure see the air sac still clearly defined. So I thought the dark egg was the that had died. I took it outside and dug a little whole and opened it in there - I didnt really dissect it I couldnt bare to but it looked like a fully developed baby chick - feathers and all. I think it was dead... I think it pipped the air sac and then died. I should have seen the air sac, right? If things were progressing? I am beating myself up afraid I threw out the wrong egg. I still have the other one in the bator. I'm going to give it a couple more days. The smell is still there but its very faint. I am hoping its just lingering from the egg I already removed. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? Should I have left them both another day or two?

I think you did the right thing. The egg you cracked open was dead by the way you described. Wait a few days on the other egg. And I know someone that had the same incubator and they cant get anything to hatch out of it.
