I like the styrofoam incubators. Hopefully you get the remaining egg to hatch.Yeah I was a little naive when I bought it. I don't think I'll try it again with that thing. And thanks that makes me feel a bit better.

Sorry about your attack. It is always sad to loss a chicken. And it seems like whatever kills them is extremly dumb they always go for the things that are harder to get to!Darth Layer- I like your lavenders!! Very pretty!
Well I've had another attack today!!! Man this chicken stuff is hard!!! Don't have any idea what did it! Had to put a roo down. Missing 2 girls and 1is injured! My DH was already home when I got home so I didn't go say "Hi" to the girls like usual. Well after dinner I want out to ck on everybody . Bam!! Feathers everywhere. I had the leghorn in a covered cage, cause he was beating up the girls, and whatever it was had rolled the cage about 8 ft and beat him up so we had to finish it. I had 2 young Bo and 4 silkies in a fenced are that wouldn't have taken that much work and they were fine!! Have no idea what it was!! So new lockdown plans start tomorrow!! And the DH last night had just said we were going to start on the official chicken house and pens!! Not soon enough!
The 2 buff Brahmas are my nephews, They are from my birds, His rooster won Best in show.Out of the seven summers I have been here, I have probably made it to our county fair twice. So, today I was inspired by the possibility of finding hens and I took my two youngest kids to look around. While we didn't come across anyone who was selling hens, pullets, chicks, etc...we found a lot to see. I have found that since my kids are old enough to be in preschool and one in high school, I'm actually starting to recognize people in my town and its starting to feel homey. Anyway, we saw the coolest chickens and I now want a bunch I can't even identify. My kids want a turkey (I don't), they want ducks (maybe), and they want goats (that could happen). I don't know what you do with goats for real, but they are sweet.
If these are Buff Brahmas, you were right, I'd like two please.
I don't know what she is, but isn't she lovely?
And this little speckled one is also a looker
WOW!!! He's just awesome to quote my son.
I think these were the bantam cochins and they are so pretty. Please correct me if I am wrong.
The frizzle is adorable, but so is the buff hen. Do you know what she is?
I am a city girl and I've only seen wild turkeys in our part of the woods, so to me this is only something from a book. He was just pretty, ugly, and amazing all at the same time.
I can see why my kids love them so much. The are really too cute.
Now I know where Cruella De Ville got her wardrobe inspiration, but seriously, what in the world is this bird? Gorgeous of the high maintenance looking sort.
If you are all out at your fairs, I hope you are having as much fun as we did. I think we'll go back again this week.
That would make sense that they are showing. I haven't seen them posting here lately and I bet they are really busy with the fair. We might have met them today without knowing!
Can't tell for sure. Would need to see what color legs she has and what she looks like actually standing up. The color is Silver Duckwing. I have 4 girls that color, two are Phoenix pullets with slate colored legs, and two are Silver Leghorns with yellow legs. There are also Old English Game pullets that have that coloring.Out of the seven summers I have been here, I have probably made it to our county fair twice. Quote: I haven't ran into that before, how old is she? The sand will act like grit, and should pass thru i would think. Search here:

And there may be someone else to reply that knows more about it.
Lovely!
I love my buff brahma rooster. He is the best. Mine grew to be huge but kept his good personality. They make perfect roos for kids. Good choice!Have a great time at the fair. Drink lots of ice water.
We got two roosters from her for my children to have has pets. They are very friendly little guys. Although she tells me they will be on the larger side when they are full grown. One of the roosters we chose was a buff brahma and he is now named orange buster (our first rooster was Buster a BLRW). The other one is a black mixed rooster. He is so soft and adorable with the face and neck of a black americana. He is now named him Eeyore. My DH said if Eeyore was a chicken it would look like this black one. DH also said that we should limit how many roosters we let the children name.
I also vote Dark Cornish. I got a bunch of them in my pan fry mix from Meyer hatchery. They like to free range a lot for me.
Here are my lavender ameraucanas I just got today

I plan to breed them when they are old enough.

I have one OEG that color also, little doll too!
The goats are wonderful, you can get milk goats, just pets, or some people do use them for meat. (I don't at this point, not sure if i could)
Loved the Royal Palm tom, handsome guy!
I am so sorry, I know how painful it is. Honestly makes me think a dog, fox would have taken it, same for a coyote. You need a game camera to find out your culprit, maybe a friend has one you can borrow.Darth Layer- I like your lavenders!! Very pretty!
