INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hello from Velpen, Indiana! I've been with BYC for nearly a year, but just found this thread. We started our flock last March, 2012 with 30 chicks of Rhode Island Reds. Had one hen hatch a small clutch of 6 last September and hope to hatch more this Spring. Have eggs coming out our ears but love it. I would be willing to help with Excel or any way I can. Love the thread!
Wonderful

Hello,
I'm not sure if I can post this here, but I am anyway - Our 4-H Poultry Club in Bartholomew County (Columbus) has some extra chicks available from our Exhibition order. We typically order a couple hundred purebred chicks from some of the top breeders in the country for our members to show at our fair in July. They are straight run and $8 each. We currently have some Red and Silver Gray Dorkings, Partridge and Silver Peniciled Rocks, Andalusians, WC Black Polish and a few other odds and ends. These are picked up only - we are just trying to sell a few extras to other 4-H kids, not start a business! Call or email if you are interested in getting into some of these breeds.

We are also actively recruiting new members so if you live in Bartholomew County and want to become involved in 4-H, please contact me as well.

thanks,

Matt

Absolutely! This is what I started the thread for. Trying to find good quality heritage breeds was nearly impossible in the area I live in. I have a mixed flock of freebees that provide my personal family eggs, they are my very first birds from last year. I am working on gathering some of the largest heritage and rare breeds now. We need someone local here! And I am excited to do it

If you have a favorite Co-op or veterinarian, please, do share the information also.

Well i candled tonight, wow! I am really excited, out of the 13, only have 1 that's questionable. It is a pretty dark egg, have my hopes up. 9 goose eggs went into the 2nd incubator. No guinea or muscovy eggs yet....
