Leave her to take care of it. She will know what to do. Quit disturbing her or she may leave them to die. She's not getting up because she knows she needs to stay with the babies and hatch. Poop won't hurt them.

If, for some reason, she leaves the nest for more than a few minutes and there are still live eggs working on hatching, you can try putting her back with the babies too. Or put the rest in an incubator.

Usually they WILL NOT leave the nest while there is a hatch in process unless someone takes their babies away.

Seriously. Leave her, her poop, her babies, and the hatching ones. She'll take care of it.

Kab is just living up to her moniker -- hyper.

I can't kill mine either. Sometimes it is needed. It is too sad. I can study why a chick did not make it out of the egg or help one out but to put one down, nope not me. I have a method though. Stop reading here if you are easily grossed out.

I pass the dirty job on to one who enjoys the job and is quite quick. Moses my barn cat does not get emotional at all and he leaves nothing to clean up. Not entirely painless for the chick though but I'm not positive it is more pain that a long slow death. Thankfully I did not have any live ones for him this hatch. He did clean up the ones that did not make it out of the shell after I looked at them first.

Okay...so did you do that on ancestry.com? I've always wondered if it would be worth trying that but not sure I have the time to add another project.

I use Family Tree Maker in conjunction with Ancestry.com. The combination is very powerful. I had 1400 individuals in my genealogy, mostly unsourced. In a couple of years, I found Census, Birth, Death, Marriage records for many of them and using those sources, added thousands of related individuals, sourced. I am well pleased with it.

Ancestry.com is expensive, but I joined a Genealogy club through the library and got a logon that only costs $15/year. Family Tree Maker 2014 is $32.

Information is only as good as your care in verifying it's accuracy before adding it.
