Brad, I wanted to say thanks for mentioning the fencing clearance. I was able to get some today not as low as I wanted bu about 1/3 off. There were only a few left so we bought all of the 5 ft high 2x4 rolls. I still need to get Tposts or wooden posts and fencing brackets. But it will be a while before the new run actually gets done.
Now I'm off to ebay to look at netting prices.

When the kids were young and had Pioneer Days field trips, I saw the process done to sheep wool. Since Alpacas don't have lanolin, their fiber seems a little easier to deal with.
The hypoallergenic idea is what convinced me when I got my boys in the beginning.
Still plan to have more, but want to start with crias.. have a lot more fencing to do before I think about it tho.
Quote: Oh I would for sure explain its a sexlink. They are quite handsome, but the comb is wrong.
I hope to get more BR this year, Mabel is a good girl and the only one I have. She is very sweet.
Tried to get Buddy's picture earlier, he is the oldest boy, very handsome guy.
Gonna use mealies to bribe pics tomorrow.

I don't often comment on the photos but wanted to say I'm lovin' seeing everyone's photos!

kabhyper1- cute pics! Your "baby" silkies are getting so big, as are the others.

I got 5 new chickens today-2 white rock pullets, 1 white rock cockerel, 2 black rose comb bantams (a pair) and 7 eggs in the incubator!

Just curious, but do you have a rough estimate of how many chickens you have and how much you spend a week to feed them? We switched to dry food for the cold weather and our feed bill has gone up. I think it is close to $0.75-$1 a week per chicken and most of mine are not full grown.

I gave up on FF. Easier just to feed dry. Before I got these, I had roughly 50 chickens, a few of which are bantams. I can make a 50lb pound of feed last around 6-7 days. So averaged I spend 1lb per bird a week. But the LF do eat more than the bantams. Math is not my strong point lol, on average I spend $12-13 on a bag of feed Mine are all older (but 3) but some have quite a bit of filling out to do. Ify ou have any more questions, just ask :)
