INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi @pattyhen ! I'm in S.I. too and yes, this weather has been crazy. Chickens are tired of it, my dog is tired of it, I'm tired of the wet, dirty feet in the house... I get at least one migraine a week anymore because of the constant weather change.

Update on Brinsea humidity problem: waiting to hear back from the company. I am manually pushing water through now, a little at a time as to not get too much humidity.

@jchny2000 I think you are right, it isn't priming, but I keep looking at it to figure that out...getting nowhere. My engineer brother was home yesterday, I should have had him look at it!!

I'm looking at this as a learning experience so I don't get too mad about possibly not hatching any. I also think that if a bird/chicken was broody outside this time of year, the conditions aren't very favorable, but chicks can hatch in winter, so there's hope!

Hi Amwchickin I'm in Floyd county here right across from Louisville, Ky. I know what you mean about the dirty feet mess. I've got 2 big dogs and they want to run in and out all the time. I'm sorry about your migraines I think we should be moving into some cold temps for a while and that should help you.

Have a nice evening.

Patty

I'm sorry for the loss of your hen Indyshent. At least now you know what happened to her.

Hi everyone. I am in Southern Indiana here and just wanted to know if everyone else has been having this crazy weather? I feel like I am living in a swamp here. We've had way to much rain. My ducks are even getting tired of it. I think Thursday we are going to get some winter weather temps.

Have a nice day all.

Patty
Welcome to the thread if I hadn't said it already!
Its a huge mud pit here too, our creek jumped the banks. pigs look like mudballs, they think its awesome lol.

well, I found what was left of Brienne's nest. Most of her eggs had been eaten, but I found five that were freezing cold but intact. I'm warming them by a heater now. The same broody Australorp who hatched three babies earlier this autumn may be going broody again, so I'm hoping to stick these under her. I found some of what look to be Brienne's feathers further down the road from her nest, and I'm hoping she made it to safety. I'm pretty sure this new dog is responsible because, when it comes to chickens, his loving discipline just turns off completely. She was our children's (and my) favorite hen.
I am so sorry, she was gorgeous.

There has to be air trapped in the system preventing it from priming is my guess. I had an old green machine carpet cleaner that forever needed primed. Cant remember how i did it tho!

I've had my beautiful speckled sussexs for almost a year now and have used this sight along the way. just made an account though and thought I'd check in on the Indiana thread before i got new chicks for this springs (probable) new batch of chicks.
Thanks for all the help,
Sterling
