I think most of my 2022 pullets and my one hen are done laying for the year.
Out of 10 birds, we’re lucky to get 3 eggs in 2 days.
Anyone else’s birds already call it quits for the year?

My ducks have. Most of my hens have, but I hatched a few pullets this year who are just starting to lay. I expect they'll probably lay most of the Winter.

Not all of mine yet, but I'm down to 3-4 a day out of 48 hens. :th

My Easter hatch naked neck pullet getting close to laying, though! The rest of the pullets this year are my silkied Cochin bantams so, based on past experience with them, I'll be lucky if I see eggs from any of them before new year's. 🤭

My hens started molting in August. First a bunch, now just about all of them. I’m down to 1 or 2 eggs a day from about 50-60 hens. (. I need to do an accurate count.) Today I got no eggs at all!

But I can tell that several of them that had been looking very ratty/pin feathery are filling in and looking very pretty now, so I think they will start laying again soon. I find mine don’t really quit until Christmas.

As for this year’s pullets, the oldest ones hatched in May, so it’s kind of doubtful that they will start laying this late in the year. They might wait until late January. But, if any of them start up, then there is a good chance they will lay all winter. I have some Russian Orloffs, so if they can’t lay in winter, nothing can! 😂
