Quote: My biggest problem was the foxes. We have yet to get them, but the pens are a lot more secure. I am looking for Aussie pups, decided that will be the LGD breed am going with. Small, but smart and very devoted. Love the blue Merle color, but any will do.
my eldest boer goat, Morroco, did the funniest thing today. I was out in their pen walking around my youngest boer goat, Zambia. Then I let him go eat and was petting Morroco. He is my buddy and follows me around everywhere but anyways. He loves to eat leaves, his favorite are maple tree leaves. Well their was a mulberry tree growing up the side of a pine tree in their pen. I pulled some off and started feeding them to him. Then he decided he wanted to get them himself. these leaves were above my head and I am 5' 5". So i pull them down as far as the branch will go and they are still pretty high in the air. I didnt figure he would do anything but look at them, because he is and older goat and has always been very calm and never jumped or anything.(when he was a baby he would open the door for me). He jumped up in the air on his back legs and stood on his hind legs and at the leaves from the branch. He kept doing it and I thought it was halirous and cute. I taught him a new trick lol.
Hehe, Sugar and Bo will both use me as a lean post to get the yummy stuff! And Bo, he still does the kid dance, I love to watch them. Sugar acts like a deer, she will stand on one back hoof to try to get to the yummiest stuff! They really love maple, cherry and apple trees too. Oh, and a big bonus, they will strip a hawthorn. locust etc.down past the bark, they love those trees. Over the years having goats, I only have 3 of those awful trees left on the whole 5 acres. My dad got one of the spikes in his foot last year had a horrible time getting it out and finally made him go to the Dr. They are just a nuisance, those things are awful. Briar patches, wow, they think that's good stuff and blackberry bushes too!
