INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Pics
For the breed list I have mainly RIR. I have 3 tiny mutts I got from craigslist, still waiting to find out if they are female. I have 1 other full grown rooster that is a mix of wyandottes. The lady did not like his colors so she gave him to hus to help keep hawks away. But he is a very scared rooster. He won't protect from anything.

Hi indiana BYC's, I'm from Columbus, Indiana. I've got 5 BO hens and a BO roo. All about 3 months old. Poor things are stuck inside with this blizzard. Any ideas for their entertainment?

All mine are stuck inside too. Do you have any scratch grain? If so throw some of it down in the coop. That will keep them entertained for awhile.

Hi all from Brookville, Indiana. our family has 28 chickens, 26 hens, two roosters. most are mutts that came out of my original speckled sussex's, golden comets, columbians, and gold laced wyandottes. my wife thinks i'm chicken crazy and even crazier for wanting to set up the incubator right now. so to avoid world war three i will wait until spring( and no later that march 21!!!!) nice to see an indiana thread going. i'd like to be added to the member's list

Welcome !!
What is wrong with incubating this time of year ?? Mine has been shut off twice in 3 yrs. Once for a month because we went to florida for a week, and I didn't want to leave the poor women taking care of everything , any thing extra to do, and Once for 2 wks, and I couldn't take it any more and turned it back on. Poultry people around here call me the Crazy chicken Lady !! LOL !!!
You might as well join us other Crazy people

I made that promise to myself not to fire up the incubator until spring and then somehow 20 eggs were in the bator and 18 hatched 4 weeks ago. Now I have d'Uccle chicks in the garage providing me with my chick fix. Good luck waiting until March.

I can't wait to get my incubator going! The plan is to wait until all the holiday craziness is over - so we'll set it up on January 2nd. lol We can't wait to hatch out some little bantams and see what we get from our BCMs.
