INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Welcome to the Indiana Thread: ZOO357 and AATH and jdmekus !!!

(I finally caught up on all the posts made since last night!)

Since I don't have any baby chick photos or any photos of exciting new projects or new animals like EVERYONE else on this thread, I'm posting a picture of two of my hens who just had to share a nesting box even though the one to the right was empty. The little thing protruding through the back of the box that they're in is one of those peepholes that are for front doors of people's homes. haha We thought we could spy on them, but all we usually see are legs standing on a perch.

Going to candle all my eggs in the incubators. I have a sad feeling the last 2 chicken eggs, and the geese eggs I am waiting on didn't make it. I do not hear a single peep, and this is 4 days past hatch.

Moving everything into my den/office room where its really warm most of the time.Have a hunch the cold air and draft is affecting my hatches. Poor Paddy only has chicken siblings!

Sorry my last message posted twice, that's annoying.

Jchny2000: I am sad to hear about the situation with your eggs! Tomorrow if you get a chance, please post a new photo of Paddy so we can see how she has changed.

WOW! I love the shingles!!!!

Thanks! My only real problem with them is I won't be able to see them from the house. I put the nest boxes on the north side of the coop, where it will be darkest. Maybe I'll just pick up the concreted footers and rotate the thing 90*. Ha ha.

And man, get away from this thread for 24 hours and Wham! 50 or more new posts! It must be spring in IN, or almost. How's your coop/chickens?

Wow, the thread moves fast in here. Did not get on much since Sunday and already an amazing amount of posts have happened.

Welcome all that have joined. Hope you enjoy the stay. Great bunch of folks on here topped with great conversation (hence the kagillion posts since Sunday).

Did notice AATH... I am east Marion County too...

Too Fast - Wow the coop is looking great. Love the addition of the shake singles.

Crafty - I hope your wee one is feeling better.

Jchnny - Can not imagine that sinking feeling knowing you have put forth so much effort and it may not have worked out. Fingers crossed.

Before work yesterday, we went to collect tools from the shop and I noticed 3 igloo coolers in there.... I am getting the itch guys!

Noticed one of my new chicks has a huge comb for his 3 weeks of age. Awesome...or rather not. Might hang onto him see if he turns out to be a good looking hunk with breeding abilities. I have posted him in the 'what breed' thread. Think he might have some frizzle going on. He is looking like he needs a day at the salon with a pair of straightening irons

My other guys seems to be doing well... had a touch and go moment with the silkie and one tiny OEGB...

Who knew raising chicks could be this stressful!
