INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

It's hard to tell for sure with such small pictures, but I agree with babymakes6, this bird looks pretty manly...
Kiniska suggested I post the photos on the EO thread, so I just did.
Here are some new photos that chickenridgefarms sent today... so far two of you say cockerel, and jchny thinks it's a pullet based on her lavenders.

Blue laced red wyandottes are out! I'm splitting this act with countryhen19, and probably sell any left overs if there are any. Here are some pics. Still have 5 in the bator drying out and more still hatching!

These chicks are from one line I got and the ones still in bator are another line. These are currently being brooded with the silkies that hatched a few days prior. I really don't want o set up another brooder to keep other line separate so hinting of leg banding them. I wish I had the spiral bands but didnt think about it earlier so thinking of using small zip ties but very nervous to do so. I guess if I left them loose enough and watched it shouldn't be an issue. We will see. I figure if hey are brooded together I won't have issues integrating them later on when I set up breeding groups.
ooooo oooooo ooooo pretty chicks!!!!! the chicken math in my head is multiplying right now!!!!!!!

Wow. Leave this thead for more than 18 hours, lookout! All the new chicks look great, glad my DW can't see any. She'd want more. We only have room for 6, oops we have 8, and it's my fault!

For all those who never counted the chicken figures in the kitchen before you ever had any in the backyard, well, we stopped counting around 12. Nice even dozen. From the standing dust collectors, to the mats by the oven/fridge, to the paintings hanging on the walls, I guess we were destined to get some real ones.

I see many people still online-- just wanted to ask everyone to be safe tonight and tomorrow! It might get bad here (hopefully not). My dad was in the Missouri tornado, it looked like it went right over their big subdivision! They are okay, some property damage and they have no power- probably for awhile but I'm glad that they are safe. I was looking at the updates on weather.com and freaked out when I saw that a tornado hit Harvester, MO...

Many of us up here NE Indiana (Brad, Pipd, me, others?) have a Tornado Watch until 6am. I know it directly doesn't have to do with our chickens (other than the potential of death from winds etc) but they can't survive without us if we don't keep ourselves safe.

Ok, stepping off my soapbox!

Take care!

5 weeks old? I'm seeing wattles already. I still say male. :/ Love the last picture, though!

You too country hen and glad to hear your father stayed safe in MO! We live in the northern Indiana about 30 minutes from Cicero and are under a tornado watch until 6 am too. Just lighting here and a quick rain so far. Hence the staying up way past my normal bed time to see what happens with these storms coming in. Be safe all & critters

It doesn't seem too bad here right now, but I'm keeping alert. :fl Relatively sure all the digging I did today will have been for naught with all the rain we had in short order here, though. :/
