INDIANA BYC'ers HERE!

Hi Vicki,
Sorry to hear about your loss. If you decide to go the egg route, you could borrow my incubator. It's a Brinsea mini, so it only holds seven eggs, but that's probably good if you don't have lots of room for chickens. I'm done hatching for this year, so it is not in use now. Another option is that I could hatch them for you if you'd prefer. Either way, send me a pm if you are interested.

I appreciate that. I am looking really hard into it. The timing will be a bit squirly coming to the end of the season, however.. Might be an option. Let me eBay/BYC browse today and se if anything floats my boat.

Violet R.I.P

Like us, chickens form friendships and strong family ties. They love their young and mourn the loss of loved ones.

According to animal behaviorist Dr. Chris Evans, chickens are as smart as mammals, including some primates. He explains that chickens are able to understand that recently hidden objects still exist, which is beyond the capacity of small children. Furthermore, Dr. Joy Mench, professor and director of the Center for Animal Welfare at the University of California at Davis explains, "Chickens show sophisticated social behavior. They can recognize more than a hundred other chickens and remember them. They have more than thirty types of vocalizations."

Adeline has been calling Violet, which is so sad.

Sigh.

Thank you for this info, too.

I see this listing al the time on eBay and the typically go pretty reasonable. I'd think you would get some nice colors out of that group.

Quote: This is a really friendly rooster, I'm just a touch over loaded with boys. Plus the gradual decrease to winter numbers is setting in. Right now I have hens but I'm hoping to sell off some of the production ones. No need to feed them during the winter if I can hatch more for spring, well hatch in late winter as I need all of my chicks hatched by March 1 this year.

Quote: I have a nice incubator that is sitting empty, if you want me to hatch some of the eggs. Just make sure the seller is good at packing and leaves the bubble wrap ends open.
Does anyone have good quality Cream Legbar or Rhodebar available for sale?

John
Red Ridge in TN has 1 extra full grown RhodeBar rooster.

Anyone want a power plucker? My DH does not like it since we do not have a powerful enough drill for it to be the most effective. It was used on less than 1 chicken. They sell for $35. I'm going to list it on CL for $30.
