Gosh Brad...how Do you keep them sooo clean!?!  They're beautiful!  Congrats on thinning out!  I wish I had a rooster fairy that would come gather up mine!  Maybe if I put them under my pillow!!  LOL
haha. They haven't been outside much yet. Atleast the pullets haven't. The roo was until he got in the fight with the other roo.

Hello fellow BYCers!
Just wanted to say hi and that i am still alive! I have missed you guys but i have just been kinda busy and a couple of days ago I was like 4 to 4 1/2 weeks behind on posts. I was able to get through a lot of pages while I was selling things at a craft fair the other day. I still have quite a few more pages to go but I am gaining. I think my girls have thought it better not to lay any eggs while it has turned cold the past couple of weeks. My coop is way to small for any kind extra lighting and i'm so scared of coop fires so I have just wrapped it in a tarp. The girls seem to be doing ok so far.

any hoo.... hope everyone's saturday is going well!!

DH processed 7 chickens today but 2 of them are getting fed back to the chickens, as they were small and older.
Our meatie birds would have been 8 weeks on Monday. After gutting and either skinning or plucking, they weighed between 3.7 pounds and 4.2 pounds. Not as large as I was hoping before buying them but still good. Any larger and they would not have fit in my ziplock bags so it all worked out.

Still not getting eggs from my ducks or young pullets. I miss the eggs, but not the production birds I sold. I have 6 young pullets that should start laying in any day, well in the next 1-3 weeks. 3 of those are hatchery birds so I'm hoping they lay right through the cold.

My HRIR roosters are hitting their must mate stage finally but I think I'm going to have to separate them from the hens as soon as I can as 3 RIR roosters to 6 pullets plus one sumatra rooster just won't work out well for long. My Sumatra is getting the beginnings of a nice tail though.

sending GOOD vibes!!!!!
Just got my young broody brood settled in her broody-busting pen. This is not a happy broody brood.

My speckled Sussex, Poggy, apparently disapproves of unauthorized broody brooding.

Poor Margie doesn't know what she's ever done to deserve such treatment!

(Ugh, bad cell phone pictures...)

Awww poor margie! All will be well soon!
